Assessing Urban Governance. The Case of Water Service Co-production in Venezuela
When examining the relationship between urban governance and improved service provision in the Global South, there is frequently a gap between the rhetoric and the reality. Informal, practice-based local governance processes that aim to produce better urban services often diverge from official governance prescriptions and mechanisms for service delivery within the institutional sphere. This book explores the complex area of urban governance assessment, focusing on the issue of sustainable water supplies for the urban poor. Adapting the UN-Habitat Urban Governance Index, the author explores the dual nature of urban governance, analyzing its formal dimension at the municipal level but also taking account of informal and locally specific governance arrangements aimed at improving access to basic services. Water service co-production strategies involving both public institutions and organized groups of citizens in Venezuela provide an excellent case study of this phenomenon. The book illustrates the limitations of official governance assessment tools in appreciating the extent and vibrancy of local practices and agreements, as well as investigating the discrepancies between normative prescriptions and governance arrangements on the ground.

Simplified model equations and various approximations therefore assume considerable significance for the understanding of problem structure and for the solution of practical problems.

Diana's was a creative childhood steeped in experiments with drawing, pottery and embroidery, played out against the backdrop of a picture-fi lled house, a lovely garden and an artistic family. This Census of Rabelais Copies reflects the digital revolution in library cataloguing, incorporating a complete rechecking for early Rabelais copies, notably in the Worldcat database. Every copy recorded has been further verified in the catalogues of the individual libraries concerned. Alongside numerous corrections and additions to the 1987 publication, based on excellent bibliographical and more general scholarship, this Census increases the total number of known copies of Rabelais, dated between 1532 and 1626, and in public hands, from about 750 to nearly 1100, of which well over 100 are available for consultation online. Of particular interest are the discovery of nine copies of the Almanach pour l'an 1535 (NRB 095), the discovery of a previously un-recorded edition by Rabelais of Hippocrates's Prognostikon (NRB 109.5), and the re-emergence in Moscow of the Pantagruel of 1533 (NRB 007), with the Chonicques du grant Roy Gargantua (NRB 122) and the Pantagrueline prognostication (NRB 016) previously recorded in Dresden.

Scripts and Communication for Relationships
Over 200 years ago, Jane Austen, an astute observer of the rituals of late-eighteenth-century courtship wrote that a happy marriage was the result of chance. Modern relationship researchers have revealed that scripts concerning pair bonding rituals are actually constituted in a manner so as to leave little to chance when romantic attachments are formed, intensify, and sometimes dissolve. In this introductory text, the authors discuss the basis of relationship scripts, emotions, imagery, and physiology of relationships including romance, friendship, work associates, mentors, and Facebook friends. They argue that people's expectations for relational development influence their communication, faith, and commitment in relationships. Misconstruing sexual or flirtatious intent, for example, is derived from having different scripts about attraction. The book also discusses abusive relationships including characteristics of abusers, stalking, and verbal and physical aggression. Designed for classes in communication and relationships, interpersonal communication, intrapersonal communication, and communication and cognition, as well as across disciplines in psychology, sociology, family studies, and social work, this text provides a comprehensive overview of how scripts and communication are used in relationships. The Great Good Place?
Ever since Arthur Conan Doyle's hawk-faced detective Sherlock Holmes and his chronicler Dr Watson followed the advice of Horace, to seek truth "inter silvas Academi", the groves of Academus have been swept by a wave of violence. Judging from the impressive number of bodies discovered on American and British campuses in fiction, it does not seem far-fetched to draw the conclusion that behind the Eden-like façade of the Great Good Place each of the seven Deadly Sins is enjoyed to the full. Looking back on almost nine decades of college mystery novels, the genre has certainly lost none of its appeal. Considering its hybrid nature, the aim of the present anthology is to cover numerous aspects of the productive field of college mystery novels.

Amedeo Modigliani (1884-1920) was one of the many and diverse talents who were drawn to Paris in the early years of this century, making the city a vibrant but pressurized environment for artistic expression. A legend grew up around Modigliani, who, along with others, engendered the concept of the peintre maudit- the accursed painter - whose poverty corruption and excess were the very seeds from which his remarkable works of art were conceived.
Unlike the Italian Futurists, who stormed at their own overwhelming tradition, -Modigliani seemed to sense the possibility of returning to it for renewal. His interpretation of a central theme of the tradition, the reclining female nude, produced a series of uniquely beautiful works, outstanding in the grace and harmony of their linear designs and the quality of their colour. Nudes, portraits and studies of a surprising range of personalities and psychological types are represented in this ideal introduction to the artist, as is a selection of his remarkable stone carvings, of which about 25 survive.

Les thés meurtriers d'Oxford Tome 2 : Beau thé fatal
Qu'est-ce qui a bien pu passer par la tête de Gemma d'aller au vernissage d'une exposition d'art contemporain d'Oxford ? Elle déteste toutes ces toiles prétentieuses et elle s'ennuie ferme... Jusqu'à ce que l'une des invitées, après avoir avalé une tasse de thé, se mette à convulser et tombe raide morte. Empoisonnée. Shocking ! Voilà qui fait tache dans cette galerie chic à l'ambiance minimaliste et feutrée. Dare-dare, Gemma flaire l'assassinat. D'autant qu'il y a une ombre au tableau : le propriétaire de la galerie ne pouvait pas voir la victime en peinture ! Aidée d'un charmant inspecteur et de quatre vieilles commères, Gemma plonge dans un mystère plus complexe qu'un plum pudding. Et surtout plus dangereux, car elle pourrait bien être la prochaine sur la liste du tueur...
