He for example travelled to Romania and read "Dracula" by Bram Stoker in the Castelul Bran Castle, because it's said that the main character Dracula lived in it. And then all of a sudden he stopped travelling... He got a month ago a big long hat that belongs to the greatest witch that lived during the middle ages, "Moje Gayla". In fact, after being burned by the church, one of her relatives kept her belongings inside a wooden box... and in the twentieth century one of her grandchildren donated the box to "The Magic Square Museum" in London. Genius bought the hat at a public auction as an art relic to decorate one of his rooms. Could this weird neighbor be the reason of Socrates' psychological trauma ? Or maybe he is the one who will cure him ? And what has the hat to do with all this ?

On le connait en tant que dessinateur de BD cultes comme Le Roi des mouches ou Love in Vain, mais Mezzo est également un illustrateur de renom. Affiches, pochettes d'albums, sérigraphies, couvertures de magazines... cet auteur exigeant a déjà mis son talent au service de supports divers et variés pour délivrer son univers underground, onirique, sexy et rock. Des images muettes qui, par leur force d'évocation, sont souvent aussi parlantes que des cases de BD.Ce très bel ouvrage recueille un florilège des illustrations que Mezzo a pu produire dans sa carrière hors bande dessinée. On prend plaisir à y retrouver son trait incisif, précis et sensuel, autour de quelques-uns de ses thèmes favoris : la musique, l'érotisme et le fantastique. Des pages de BD inédites (projets abandonnés, recherches graphiques du Roi des mouches et histoires courtes) viennent conclure ce panorama graphique d'un auteur à nul autre pareil.

Shark Book
Après une longue journée passée à dessiner ses séries en cours, Ju/CDM dessine pour se reposer. Il dessine des requins. C'est son fils de trois ans qui lui a transmis cette passion dévorante. Depuis plusieurs années, dans des carnets de différentes tailles, Julien dessine des requins puis les poste sur Facebook, où ils rencontrent un grand succès. A ce jour, il en a dessiné plus de 200. Ces exercices de styles sont exceptionnels, inventifs, variés, et toujours surprenants, drôles et magnifiquement dessinés. Ce livre, sous la forme d'un carnet de croquis, en regroupe une sélection.

Il est une chose dont peu se souviennent, c'est que l'Allemagne fut une puissance colonisatrice. De 1883 à 1916, elle occupa ce qu'on appelait alors le Sud-Ouest africain, l'actuelle Namibie. Il en est une autre que beaucoup ignorent, c'est que cette colonie fut le théâtre du premier génocide du xxe siècle. Un génocide oublié, occulté même, car le premier rapport officiel - le fameux Blue Book - sur le massacre des Hereros et des Namas fut soustrait à la connaissance du public en 1926. Elise Fontenaille-N'Diaye, alors qu'elle enquêtait sur son aïeul, le général Mangin, a retrouvé ce rapport disparu. Dès lors, elle se devait de raconter. Si ce livre vise à ranimer le souvenir de cette sombre page de l'histoire du colonialisme, il ne se veut pas un ouvrage de spécialiste. L'auteur y donne son point de vue d'écrivain, son point de vue personnel. Quelque part entre le désert du Kalahari et la presqu'île de Shark Island, au large de Lüderitz, s'est déroulée une macabre répétition générale, préfiguration des exterminations à venir.

Après "la vedette" "le canonnier de Vodkagrad" et "la taupe de Botagogo", Malo Louarn nous a concocté un nouvel opus avec le célébrissime Dupaxon. Il est mauvais Dupaxon ! Dans le plus grand secret, les dirigeants de l'Olympic F.C. se mettent tous d'accord pour gagner beaucoup d'argent au prochain match et font appel à un bookmaker. Dupaxon devient le propriétaire d'un bouc. Patpanic fait de gros efforts pour apprendre le français. Tous ces ingrédients vont provoquer un incroyable quiproquo : le book... le bouc... le bookmaker... le bouc m'écoeure... Qui va finalement gagner le match ? Qui va ramasser le pactole ? Le journal qui défoule et qui fait vraiment du bien ! Un journal intime sans tabou ! La colère est un sentiment souvent présenté de façon négative et culpabilisatrice alors que c'est une émotion élémentaire de notre panel émotionnel qui révèle bien plus de nous-mêmes que d'autres. Publié suite à l'exposition personnelle de Nathalie Du Pasquier au MACRO à Rome (Museo di Arte contemporanea di Roma), puis au Mrac Occitanie, Sérignan, sa plus grande exposition à ce jour qui a rassemblé plus de cent peintures, sculptures, dessins et gravures, du début des années 1980 à aujourd'hui, ce livre oscille entre catalogue d'exposition et livre d'artiste en juxtaposant des photographies des oeuvres de Nathalie Du Pasquier, des vues d'installation de l'exposition au MACRO et des extraits de textes de divers écrivains et personnalités fondamentales pour sa pratique. Ces éléments s'assemblent pour créer une extension de l'exposition elle-même, sous une forme qui traduit l'esprit de l'exposition : les pages deviennent des espaces d'exposition accueillant des associations et des combinaisons qui permettent une compréhension et une exploration plus approfondies du travail de Du Pasquier, et de son imagination au sens large. C'est un aperçu des possibilités offertes par son oeuvre, qui peut être abordée, interprétée et vécue sous d'innombrables angles. HARASSING THE OCCUPYING FORCES TO PREPARE THE INVASION The RAF and RCAF had been flying hundreds of similar sorties over France for months, in order to weaken the German forces, particularly the Luftwaffe. The pilots of No. 401 Squadron were among those who took part in this patient work, made up of constant patrols and attacks. Among the 63 men mentioned in this book, 25 were killed in action between 1942 and 1944. Polish Psychological Verbs at the Lexicon-Syntax Interface in Cross-linguistic Perspective
This book is a comparative study of Polish psychological verbs. The analysis concentrates on the lexicon-syntax interface of psych verbs, and constitutes an argument in favour of its strong dependence on event structure. The aim of this study is to show that the class of Polish psych verbs, as in many other languages, is not uniform. The analysed subclasses are differentiated on the basis of their causation and stativity. The marriage of those semantic traits and their structural representation is possible only if it is performed via event structure configuration, a layer which appears to underlie the conceptualisation of events.

Political Economy and Fiction in the Early Works of Harriet Martineau
This book examines the early work of Harriet Martineau (1802-1876), writer, journalist and woman of letters. She became famous in the 1830s with her Illustrations of Political Economy, a series of 25 short novels popularizing the basic principles of Political Economy. Also discussed are her two shorter series of tales from that period, Poor Laws and Paupers Illustrated and Illustrations of Taxation. With these works Martineau took part in an intense debate about the role of economic theory in English society. Drawing on such authorities as Adam Smith Martineau offered her readers the possibility of understanding the impact of the Industrial Revolution and its concomitant changes.

From serious illness to natural disasters, humans turn to communication as a major source of strength to help us bounce back and to keep growing and thriving. Communicating Hope and Resilience Across the Lifespan addresses the various ways in which communication plays an important role in fostering hope and resilience. Adopting a lifespan approach and offering a new framework to expand our understanding of the concepts of "hope" and "resilience" from a communication perspective, contributors highlight the variety of "stressors" that people may encounter in their lives. They examine connections between the cognitive dimensions of hope such as self-worth, self-efficacy, and creative problem solving. They look at the variety of messages that can facilitate or inhibit experiencing hope in relationships, groups, and organizations.
