Rien ne l'ai destinait à se rencontrer, ni à s'entendre, mais parfois de l'amour à la haine, il n'y a qu'une pas. Dans le tome 2 : Jordan, un cowboy à qui n'a pas l'intention de se poser va faire la connaissance de l'une de leurs nouvelles employées. Aurora, une jeune femme pleine de vie, pourtant elle n'a pas eu la viefacile. Son emploi au ranch va lui permettre de réaliser son rêve, mais c'est sans compter sur son patron terriblement sexy. Ce dernier va lui faire sentir des choses qu'elle n'avait jamais ressenties avant.

Although Mme de Lafayette is acknowledged as the founder of the modern novel, her precise legacy has been understood only in relation to male-authored texts. However, she wrote as a woman, addressing issues that concerned women of her day, particularly the problem of the apparent incompatibility of sexual fulfilment and the institution of marriage. This study seeks to identify how La Princesse de Clèves was interpreted by three of Mme de Lafayette's most talented women successors and to show how their more sombre and subversive view of society was mediated in works of fiction which have strong affinities with the contes de fées for which they are well known. The novels of Mlle Bernard, Mme d'Aulnoy and Mlle de La Force are significant, not simply for what they tell us about themselves as women writers but also for what they reveal about the origins of the eighteenth-century novel.

WHY SEX MATTERS. A Darwinian Look at Human Behavior
Why are men, like other primate usually the aggressors and risk takers? Why do women typically have fewer sexual partners? Why is killing infants routine in some cultures, but forbidden in others? Why is incest everywhere taboo? Bobbi Low ranges from ancient Rome to modern America, from the Amazon to the Arctic, and from single-celled organisms to international politics to show that these and many other questions about human behavior largely come down to evolution and sex. More precisely, as she shows in this uniquely comprehensive and accessible survey of behavioral and evolutionary ecology, they come down to the basic principle that all organisms evolved to maximize their reproductive success and seek resources to do so.
Low begins by reviewing the fundamental arguments and assumptions of behavioral ecology: selfish genes, conflicts of interest, and the tendency for sexes to reproduce through different behaviors. She explains why in primate species-from chimpanzees and apes to humans-males seek to spread their genes by devoting extraordinary efforts to finding mates, while females find it profitable to expend more effort on parenting. Low illustrates these sexual differences among humans by showing that in places as diverse as the parishes of nineteenth-century Sweden, the villages of seventeenth-century China, and the forests of twentieth-century Brasil, men have tended to seek power and resources, from cattle to money, to attract mates, while women have sought a secure environment for raising children. She makes it clear, however, they have not done so simply through individual efforts or in a vacuum, but that men and women act in complex ways that involve cooperation and coalition building and that are shaped by culture, technology, tradition, and the availability of resources. Low also considers how file evolutionary drive to
acquire resources leads to environmental degradation and warfare and asks whether our behavior could be channeled in more constructive ways.
Why Sex Matters is a compelling work of biology, sociology, and anthropology and a penetrating study of the deep motivations that underlie individual and social behavior.

The dialogues of the mid-Victorian novelist, Anthony Trollope, are particularly permeable to modern psycholinguistic terminology as used by the Palo Alto school, especially by Paul Watzlawick in Pragmatics of Human Communication. We have classified Trollope novels into pleasant and unpleasant, using Barchester Towers and He Knew He was Right as respective examples of normogenic personal and social conflict, and schizophrenia-induced hubris. We have cast seven dialogues in graphic form : first according to the semiotic system by Carlos E. Sluzki and Janet Beavin, and then in the more comprehensive form of Klaus Muderbach's Interaction Notation. The question is posed whether a semiotic notation can show differentiation between psychotic and normogenic behavior, with reflections on how to define each.

Frontier and Utopia in the Fiction of Charles Sealsfield
This study examines the work of Charles Sealsfield (1793-1864), the Moravian-American writer, whose fiction marked the first serious literary treatment of America in the German language. More specifically, Sealsfield's work is discussed in the light of his experience in America and, above all, in the light of his change of identity from Karl Anton Postl - Moravian monk to Charles Sealsfield - American writer. It employs two concepts - frontier and utopia - to show how Sealsfield was influenced by the antebellum tradition in America, and how he, in turn, used the governing myths and symbols of his time to create an important statement about the relationship between ideology and power in the Age of Jackson.

There has been a heated international debate over Salman Rushdie's book The Satanic Verses ever since its publication in 1988. The present work examines the ways in which this affair has developed. From the beginning, one can find strong rhetorical emphases ; these are shown to argue for maintenance of meaningful boundaries. The thesis of Kuortti's book is that on each side of the debate, people use similar language to argue for the sanctity of their convictions. This is evident especially in the opposition between the arguments for the sacrality of Islam and literature. In the international exchange, how could we then find more respectful ways of acknowledging that we are not that dissimilar from each other ?

ALAN MOORE, Les Années 2000 AD: Intégrale FUTURE SHOCKS
Alan MOORE est un génie de la bande dessinée moderne connu pour ses créations qui ont bouleversé le monde de la BD et des comics (Watchmen, V pour Vendetta, La Ligue des Gentlement Extraordinaires, From Hell, Promethea, Lost Girls, Batman the Killing Joke...). Mais, auteur britannique, il s'est révélé comme tant d'autres grands auteurs d'outre-Manche, dans le magazine hebdomadaire culte 2000 AD. Au long de sa carrière dans ses pages, qui durera de 1980 à 1986, il publiera une myriade d'histoires courtes mêlant humour, science-fiction et brillante satire de nos sociétés : ce sont les fameux Future Shocks qui constituent ce recueil, accompagnés des tout aussi brillants Twisted Tales. Révélé au grand public comme au monde de l'édition, ses créations lui ouvriront quasi-immédiatement les portes des ténors américains de l'industrie du comics (Marvel et DC) : sa carrière sera alors lancée des deux côté de l'Atlantique, et il signera en parallèle son premier grand run chez DC (Swamp Thing) en même temps que son chef-d'oeuvre de SF visionnaire et féministe "La Ballade de Halo Jones" dans 2000 AD. Ce sera sa dernière oeuvre publiée dans le mag britannique, juste avant de lancer aux US sa série Watchmen. Le monde des comics ne sera plus jamais le même.

Transport and Risk Communication
The process of transnationalization in Europe is reflected in the growth of transport flows and the rapid development of new infrastructure facilities. The highly transport sector confronts policy makers with pressing challenges because some major environmental problems are attached to transport. Decision making in the field of transport and the environment is very complicated because of the complexity of the infrastructures themselves and because of the involvement of local actors in the decision making process. The central task of this book is to show how regions and countries deal with this complexity and the new challenges, different ways in which three small European countries face the many uncertainties and controversies surrounding infrastructural policies. Economical constraints, institutional and cultural factors are shown to interfere with the debates on transport-issues and the environmental risks attached to them. Each case-study describes the national characteristics of the transport sector and analyses in some detail one of the major controversies which recently arised around infrastructural projects.

Christophe Acker, réalisateur, signe la résidence de cette dixième édition et propose un film qui appréhende la ville de Vichy à travers la danse et le mouvement afin de la considérer comme un corps et un système vivant. Le coeur de la ville, ses artères, son centre névralgique, ses parcs et jardins comme ses poumons, autant de métaphores organicistes et même animistes qui assimilent l'espace urbain à un organisme, aussi bien d'un point de vue physique que fonctionnel, et dont Christophe Acker se sert pour créer une pulsation dans la ville. Accompagné de la chorégraphe Johana Malédon, il est allé d'un quartier à l'autre à la rencontre des Vichyssois, des élèves d'écoles de danse, et d'une cavalière, déplaçant les lignes et mettant en lumière les liens qui s'opèrent entre mouvement des corps et lignes architecturales. Sa proposition offre un regard singulier sur la ville. La résidence photographique est confiée cette année au réalisateur Français Christophe Acker qui a travaillé, avec des élèves d'écoles de danse de Vichy, une cavalière et une acrobate, à l'étonnante proposition d'une visite "dansée" de la ville, à travers un film projeté au palais des Congrès et des photographies présentés sur le parvis de la gare.

After the Last Ship illustrates the author's own history, as well as its connection to the history of other women and children who left India and made the journey across the Kala Pani, the Indian Ocean, and lived as migrants in other countries. In this book the author brings greater understanding of how subjectivities are shaped through embodied experiences of ‘mixed race'. She bears witness to the oppressive policies of the fascist government in Portugal in the 1960's and 1970's and the effects of displacement and exile, by reconstructing her own passage from India to Mozambique and finally to Australia. Further, the author shows the devastation that labels such as ‘half-caste', ‘canecos' and ‘monhe' can cause, when they eat at your flesh, your being, and your body. She sheds light on how identity and culture can serve as vehicles of empowerment, how experiences of belonging can germinate and take root post-diaspora.

Elle pensait en avoir fini avec l'amour, jusqu'à ce qu'il croise sa route. Quel est le comble pour une autrice de romance à succès ? Se faire larguer par celui qu'elle pensait être le héros de sa propre vie. Si Juliette n'était pas atteinte depuis par le syndrome de la page blanche, elle en rirait : sa vie ressemble vraiment à une mauvaise blague. Heureusement, sa meilleure amie lui a réservé des vacances dans un sublime chalet à la montagne pour l'aider à retrouver l'inspiration. Mais, alors qu'elle se pensait seule au milieu des forêts enneigées et des lacs gelés, Juliette fait la connaissance de Sawyer, un jeune père célibataire qui incarne parfaitement le fantasme du bûcheron et habite à deux pas de chez elle. Quand le hasard les fait se croiser à plusieurs reprises, Juliette comprend que ce séjour s'annonce plus agité que prévu. Strange Adventures examines portrayals of womanhood in the works of prize-winning French author Pierrette Fleutiaux. Fleutiaux's refreshing pictures of womanhood offer insights into how women can become more whole, substantial and free in themselves and in their relationships, as well as how they can contribute to the external world through their creativity and leadership. The study demonstrates how Fleutiaux's heroines navigate the external, bodily and inner situations of adolescence, early adult life, marriage, motherhood, maturity, leadership and death, in the process developing greater inner resources of wisdom, compassion and resilience. This volume considers selections from Fleutiaux's oeuvre, from her first short fiction Histoire de la chauve-souris to her recent Loli le temps venu, including Métamorphoses de la reine (Goncourt de la nouvelle) and Nous sommes éternels (Prix Femina). Using a theoretical framework which draws on Jungian concepts and the philosophy of Simone de Beauvoir, the study analyses women's individuation trajectories at each stage of life. Throughout, Fleutiaux's depictions are shown to pose a challenge to existing conceptions of womanhood and individuality, thus opening up new understandings of what it means to be a woman, and to be human.

Living in Two Worlds
This is a study of Singapore pastors' worldview & understanding of the epidemiology, symptomatology and management of possession behaviour. The pastors' accounts are compared with those from the scientific disciplines, and convergences and divergences noted. Factors shaping both the pastors' and the scientific discourses are examined. The pastors are shown to respond to competing scientific paradigms by reinforcing their two-worlds worldview. They either live mainly in the other world, or in each world at a time, or between the two worlds. Based on theological reflection focusing on epistemology, theodicy & cosmology, the author shows that the paradigm of living in both worlds simultaneously is the most appropriate pastoral response. The theological vision of the coexisting worlds and the pastoral task of unmasking and resisting evil in all its varieties and depths are then discussed.

On Display. Designing the Shop Experience
Objet de design et d'architecture, la boutique façonne notre pay-sage urbain et imprègne la culture populaire. Lieu d'échange et d'interactions, elle joue un rôle significatif dans la diffusion des courants du design et de l'aménagement intérieur durant le 20e siècle. En combinant petite échelle et caractère éphémère, la boutique se révèle un terrain favorable à l'expérimentation et à l'expression de la modernité. Plus qu'un simple lieu, le commerce de détail est un marqueur social et un espace d'innovation. Reflet des évolutions de notre société et environnement favorables à leur représentation, la boutique offre un regard sur l'esthétique moderne et contemporaine. D'Adolf Loos à Rem Koolhaas en passant par René Herbst, Erno Goldfinger ou Ettore Sottsass, ce livre interroge l'usage du design et de l'architecture au sein d'une identité visuelle et mobilière propre à la boutique.

Peep-show
Au renouveau du fascisme, un homme de 480 kilos, exposé dans un Peep-Show à Vienne, a chuté de son lit sur sa mère. Par ce geste, il est convaincu d'avoir accompli sa vengeance. Près de mourir.il recherche inlassablement les évènements de sa vie qui l'ont conduit là, dans son Peep-Show. Dans un récit, parfois provocant, A. J. Rudefoucauld, nous révèle, touche par touche - en un humour noir toujours présent - les clés qui échappent au personnage. Le projet de Peep-Show a reçu l'Aide à l'écriture du Centre National du Livre, et le Second Prix Littéraire International Indépendant 2015, à la mémoire de Dino Buzzati.

Alors qu'il enquête sur une sordide affaire de meurtres liés à la mafia irlandaise, Philippe Mayer, dit Lip, un capitaine de police arrogant au tempérament volcanique et à la morale scabreuse, ne s'attend pas à trouver au hasard d'une poubelle, une jolie jeune femme au sourire rayonnant. Son nom ? Elle affirme ne pas en avoir. D'où vient-elle ? De nulle part. Elle serait un "chien errant" , selon ses propres termes. Et si la situation n'était pas déjà suffisamment étrange, l'inconnue propose un deal au policier : "Adopte-moi en tant que ton animal familier et je t'obéirais". Quel mystère se cache derrière cette femme tout droit sortie d'un conte de fées ? Une chose est certaine : cette rencontre aura des conséquences aussi inattendues que dangereuses.
