Fisheye Photo Review 2021.22
1,5 kg de photographies, 291 photographes, 564 images. Pour la cinquième année consécutive, Fisheye résume un an d'explorations, de curations et de publications digitales dans un ouvrage physique à l'esthétique soignée. En 376 pages, 291 photographes, 564 images et près de 1,5 kg, nous prenons le temps d'observer. Tous ces projets artistiques ont été diffusés lors de la dernière année, donc pendant la pandémie. Un temps suspendu, où l'onirisme a pris une place inédite dans notre rapport le plus souvent direct, voire cru au monde - comme s'il fallait trouver des chemins de traverse pour transmettre une projection mentale, réinventer un rapport au réel pour mieux le sublimer.

Linking OHADA and IFRS standards. The review of the OHADA accounting system symbol of the evolution towards IFRS standards was the foc
The review of the OHADA accounting system symbol of the evolution towards IFRS standards was the focus of this study. It is about understanding how business leaders perceive the evolution from OHADA standards to IFRS standards. To conduct this study, we opted for a qualitative approach. As a result, we did semi-direct interviews with twenty-five business leaders in Cameroun (18 Cameroonian business leaders and 7 multinational business leaders). The data collected was exploited through content analysis via NVivo10 software. However, the results show that the accounting innovations of SYSCOHADA allow the production and communication of more relevant accounting and financial information for users. Likewise, managers of multinational companies believe that OHADA must fully converge towards IFRS. This perception is contrast to that of Cameroonian business leaders who cite the contextual contrast as the main obstacle and therefore taking into account the specificities of this contrast will be an asset for full convergence towards IFRS.

Conteurs, menteurs regroupe trente-huit nouvelles de Leonard Michaels écrites sur une période de plus de trente ans. Cette anthologie contient notamment l'intégralité de ses recueils Faire son chemin (1969) et Avec grandes terreurs et répugnance (1975) ainsi que ses derniers écrits parus dans The New Yorker, The Three penny Review et la Partisan Review, juste avant sa mort en 2003. Dans une langue d'une inventivité toujours renouvelée, Leonard Michaels met en scène des histoires aussi noires que drôles et dresse le portrait de ses personnages, autant de doubles de lui-même, avec un humour dévastateur et une franchise déconcertante.

Flanders Architectural Review N° 14 : When Attitudes Take Form
L'intérêt du public pour l'architecture et les questions spatiales n'a jamais été aussi élevé. Le numéro 14 de la Revue d'architecture de Flandre présente une architecture remarquable de Flandre et de Bruxelles. Elle rassemble un large éventail de projets architecturaux récemment réalisés et les situe dans l'évolution du domaine socioculturel dans lequel ils sont nés. Le concept clé pour la sélection de ces projets est résumé dans le titre : Quand les attitudes prennent forme. Les rédacteurs ont choisi une architecture qui fait preuve d'un engagement social convaincant tout en remettant en question et en question sa propre discipline. Ces cinquante projets illustrent les multiples facettes de l'architecture qui en résulte. Chacun des douze essais examine un sujet d'actualité. Squares, parcs et jardins de Paris
De son exil londonien, Napoléon III a gardé le goût des grands parcs urbains, à l'anglaise. Devenu empereur, il a voulu doter Paris d'espaces verts, accessibles à tous, riches ou pauvres. Lors des grands travaux haussmanniens, Jean-Charles Alphand a donc été chargé de la création et l'aménagement des parcs et des squares. Des Buttes-Chaumont au square des Batignolles, du parc Montsouris au square du Temple, il a radicalement changé l'aspect de Paris. D'autres vagues successives, dans les années 1930, à partir des années 1980, ont également contribué à faire de Paris une ville riche en espaces verts. Des parcs immenses, des centaines de squares, une multitude de jardins discrets, parfois guère plus grands qu'un mouchoir de poche, s'égrènent au détour d'une rue, au carrefour de deux voies, au coeur des immeubles. Ce sont des lieux quelquefois secrets, hors du temps, où règne un calme insolite dans l'univers urbain. Des kiosques, des fontaines, des statues, des gloriettes les égayent, toute une ambiance si typique du paysage parisien. On y croise les enfants qui jouent et les mémés qui papotent. On s'y repose un instant, on y flâne sans bouger. Sans eux, Paris ne serait plus Paris.

Après un long moment de recherche, dans un coin, Louise découvre une malle poussiéreuse. Les deux cousins, l'ouvrent et entrevoient un sabre avec une inscription. Une trouvaille qui va les mener jusqu'à l'école militaire de Saint Cyr de Coëtquidan, sur les traces de leur grand père. It's a Sunday and often as not, Louise and Arthur go and visit their grandmother. They like to go there, she plays with them and tells them lots of stories. But this Sunday she does not have the time, so the two cousins are bored. They decide to climb up into the attic, where old memorabilia and abandoned objects are stored. They have been there before, but now that they are taller, maybe they will find a treasure they did not see during their last visit. After a long moment of searching, in a corner, Louise discovers a dusty trunk. The two cousins open it and see a sword with an inscription. A discovery that will lead them to the military school at Saint Cyr de Coëtquidan, in the footsteps of their grandfather.

Cet ouvrage est une traduction inédite du numéro de référence de la Tulane Drama Review sur le happening, publié en 1965 par Michael Kirby et Richard Schechner. Cette édition critique et annotée comprend par ailleurs un avant-propos de Richard Schechner écrit pour cette occasion, ainsi qu'une lettre d'Allan Kaprow en réponse à ce numéro et un essai théorique de Michael Kirby sur le happening. Ce numéro thématique réunit les réflexions des principaux protagonistes du happening et de l'event, qui formalisent un tournant performatif dans les arts, que ceux-ci relèvent du théâtre, des arts plastiques, de la musique ou de la danse. Pour contextualiser ce tournant, une introduction revisite l'histoire complexe du happening aux Etats-Unis dans les années 1950-1960.

Dans Le Jeu, qu'ils pratiquent on-line, Compagnon d'Ambre et Luciole, leurs personnages, forment un duo de choc digne des meilleurs films d'action, et les deux jeunes gens ont de plus en plus de mal à vivre dans la réalité. Un jour, pourtant, Clotaire découvre que des meurtres perpétrés dans Le Jeu ont lieu aussi dans la réalité. Comment cela est-il possible ? Qui se cache derrière Le Jeu ? Qui manipule les joueurs et dans quel but ? Pour se sortir de ce piège démoniaque, Clotaire et Lucile vont devoir s'armer de courage et transposer leur duo dans le réel, devenir les héros de leurs rêves pour de vrai. Mais attention, car les frontières entre le vrai et le faux, le tangible et l'illusoire, sont parfois bien ténues. Et qui sait si toute cette histoire, finalement, n'est pas elle-même une gigantesque farce ? Une e-machination...

The Italian Yearbook of Human Rights 2014, the fourth in the series, provides a dynamic and up-to-date overview of the measures Italy has taken to adapt its legislation and policies to international human rights law and to comply with commitments voluntarily assumed by the Italian Government at the international level. Cet ouvrage embrasse les multiples aspects de l'oeuvre de Marc Fumaroli et permet d'en apprécier toute la force et l'originalité. Critique littéraire, critique d'art, observateur de la vie publique, Fumaroli se montre ici tour à tour admiratif, mordant, léger ou solennel, attaché avant toute chose à un libre exercice de l'intelligence dans tous ses domaines de prédilection. Le grand lecteur qu'il est nous entraîne dans une traversée éblouissante de la littérature classique, de ses racines antiques à la période contemporaine. Ces exercices d'admiration témoignent de ce que toute littérature a vocation à nous offrir : une forme de bonheur et d'accomplissement personnel. When the vicar's wife went off with a young and penniless man the scandal knew no bounds. Her two little girls were only seven and nine years old respectively. And the vicar was such a good husband. True, his hair was grey. But his moustache was dark, he was handsome, and still full of furtive passion for his unrestrained and beautiful wife. Why did she go ? Why did she burst away with such an éclat of revulsion, like a touch of madness ? Nobody gave any answer. Only the pious said she was a bad woman. While some of the good women kept silent. They knew. The two little girls never knew. Wounded, they decided that it was because their mother found them negligible. The ill wind that blows nobody any good swept away the vicarage family on its blast. Then lo and behold ! the vicar, who was somewhat distinguished as an essayist and a controversialist, and whose case had aroused sympathy among the bookish men, received the living of Papplewick. The Undergrowth of Science. Delusion, self-deception and human frailty
Walter Gratzer's themes in the stories he relates in The Undergrowth of Science are collective delusion and human folly. Science is generally seen as a process bound by rigorous rules, which its practitioners must not transgress. Deliberate fraud occasionally intrudes, but it is soon detected, the perpetrators cast out and the course of discovery barely disturbed. Far more interesting are the outbreaks of self-delusion that from time to time afflict upright and competent researchers, and then spread like an epidemic or mass-hysteria through a sober and respectable scientific community. When this happens the rules by which scientists normally govern their working lives are suddenly suspended. Sometimes these episodes are provoked by personal vanity, an unwillingness to acknowledge error or even contemplate the possibility that a hard-won success is a will o' the wisp; at other times they stem from loyalty to a respected and trusted guru, or even from patriotic pride; and, worst of ail, they may be a consequence of a political ideology which imposes its own interpretation on scientists' observations of the natural world. Unreason and credulity supervene, illusory phenomena are described and measured, and theories are developed to explain them - until suddenly, often for no single reason, the bubble bursts, leaving behind it a residue of acrimony, recrimination, embarrassment and ruined reputations.
Here, then, are radiations, measured with high precision yet existing only in the minds of those who observed them; the Russian water, which some thought might congeal the oceans: phantom diseases which called for heroic surgery; monkey testis implants that restored the sexual powers of ageing roués and of tired sheep; truths about genetics and about the nature of matter, perceptible only to Aryan scientists in the Third Reich or Marxist ideologues in the Soviet Union; and much more. The Undergrowth of Science explores, in terms accessible to the lay reader, the history of such episodes, up to our own time, in ail their absurdity, tragedy and pathos.

La vie est un sommeil, l'amour en est le rêve et vous aurez vécu si vous avez aimé... C'est ce qu'avait lu une jeune fille assise comme à son habitude le regard perdu dans la nature encore généreuse. Seul un homme qui a connu la passion aurait pu écrire une si belle phrase se dit-elle. Sa vie était un sacrifice, l'amour n'était devenu qu'une illusion et elle aurait vécu si jamais elle avait des ailes... Mais elle laissa tout de même son imagination la porter jusque sur les pavés de Paris, dans un hôtel majestueux où là, debout au milieu de tous ces regards qui lui faisaient oublier les camaïeux des couleurs idylliques, le ton était donné ! Mais à quoi pouvaient-ils bien rêver, se demandait-elle et donna un long soupir. Tu délires ma belle ? lui dit son collègue. Mira le regarda alors le regard las et lui répondit : je pense que ce sont les anges qui me rappellent une dernière fois les misères de ce monde ! Il était alors une fois, une jeune femme qui avec le temps, apprit une chose essentielle et bien réelle : qu'il n'y a que les écrits qui restent !

Epilepsy: the invisible pain
They say life is a long stretch of a calm river, but not for everyone ! She was for me until the day when everything rocked, the day my destiny was changed dramatically. People do not realize how life can be so sweet and so beautiful. They complain all day long for trivialities. They are not even aware that they have before their eyes the most beautiful wealth : the luck and happiness of living in good health. I was rich before. Now I am poor because my child has an incurable disease, that has currently no hope of being healed. As a parent, how can we accept that ? , How to continue living carrying the bundle of pain in my head ? , How to overcome this feeling of helplessness ? When I started speaking to my heart, I didn't know myself that this was the beginning of a new life : a rebirth as a poet. When I learnt that my 7-year-old daughter was suffering from the Dravet Syndrome, a rare genetic epileptic encephalopathy, this was like an earthquake in my life. Then, I needed to write in order to express my sorrow and my pain. Words and rhymes came naturally to my mind. This was obvious that poetry would be my survival weapon.
