L'amour, c'est chrétien. L'humour, c'est britannique. Quant aux ciergywomen (qu'on nous pardonne ce néologisme, mais comment dire autrement ? ), certes chrétiennes, mais pas vraiment catholiques, en tout cas so british, les voici accessibles grâce à la plume alerte de Guillaume Moureau ! Il n'est pas interdit de sourire dans les sacristies le temps de se reposer un peu des doctes querelles. Bien sûr, le sujet est grave... raison de plus pour y mettre un peu de tendresse. Pour une fois. De l'éternel féminin confronté à l'Eternité il n'y a qu'un pas, celui qui conduit de l'humour à l'amour.

Advising people to take this attitude or that are a waste of time. Those who see or/and are aware realise also that it is none of their business to goad and advise others. Our job at best can be to answer questions by the light of our knowledge but in no way can anyone be dogmatic about it. Let us all be first aware of - Do we know ? What do we know ? How do we know that we know ? To me it is the part where we first accept that there is room for change for the better in us. Then we observe ourselves. And finally we try to bring in the change in ourselves with our will with sincerity and objectivity.

Les inventeurs. Essai
What do Christopher Columbus, Reneke, Zénobe Gramme and Louis Pasteur have in common ? They were all inventors. Well fine, but who invented the crab's claw, the suction cups and the flight of squids or the proboscis of blood sucking insects ? Is invention intellectual fantasy, an industrial tool or a fundamental biological reaction ? How is this riddle to be solved ? Should we go through the list of inventions or inventors ? Is it a question of circumstances or motivations ? Who is in charge ? The Material or the Spirit ? In order to try to find a way of answering these questions, first a few very different inventors and their inventions will be presented. A few paradoxes emerge from this first part. Then we will devote an entire chapter to an exceptional inventor whose extraordinary work revolutionized how we now approach this topic. Finally, what can be said about all the inventions like the wings of birds or butterflies, the eyes of fish or insects, the leaves of trees or the social organization of beehives ? In these cases, man is not the inventor. There are countless marvels like these in the world around us. Can we explain them ? This will be the subject of the third part of this essay.

Abel Cléry

Journal de Cléry
Jean-Baptiste Cléry était le valet de Louis XVI. Son célèbre journal retrace "de l'intérieur" le récit des événements survenus au Temple, et se veut un complément utile pour ceux qui cherchent des éclaircissements historiques à diverses zones d'ombre entourant encore la captivité de la famille royale. Après la mort du roi, le journal de Cléry connait un grand succès et comporte pour la seule année 1798 sept éditions en français. Afin de discréditer ces mémoires, le Directoire fit publier une fausse édition intitulée "Mémoires de Monsieur de Cléry sur la détention de Louis XVI". Dès que Cléry en eut connaissance, il porta plainte en juillet 1801 et signa une tribune dénonçant la manoeuvre dans le journal Le Spectateur du Nord. Après la mort de Cléry, un de ses frères, Pierre-Louis Hanet, publie à Paris en 1825 des Mémoires où il s'efforce de justifier ses actions au service de la Première République, et tente de montrer que Cléry resta fidèle à la royauté. Jean-Baptiste Cant Hanet, dit Cléry (1759-1809), est le dernier valet de Louis XVI à la prison du Temple. Après la mort du roi, sans ressources, il trouve un emploi dans les bureaux des subsistances de la ville de Paris, puis il quitte la France et rejoint Madame Royale en Autriche où il entreprend la rédaction de son Journal. Il tente de publier son Journal à Vienne, mais n'en obtient pas l'autorisation et le fait imprimer à Londres, en 1798. Le livre connait un grand succès et comporte pour la seule année 1798 sept éditions londoniennes en français. Autorisé à rentrer en France, il n'y revient qu'en 1803. Napoléon Bonaparte, qui cherche à s'attacher d'anciens serviteurs de la Couronne, lui fait proposer le poste de premier chambellan de Joséphine de Beauharnais, mais Cléry refuse et s'exile à nouveau. Il rejoint Marie-Thérèse de France, à Varsovie puis à Vienne où il meurt en 1809. Réédition 2020 en hommage à l'Ami des Livres, bouquiniste en exercice depuis près de soixante ans au 13 Rue des Lois, à Toulouse.

Comme nous tous, Colin Beavan en a marre d'assister, impuissant, au réchauffement climatique, à
la déforestation et aux gaspillages en tous genres... Il refuse d'être partie prenante dans la fonte des
glaces et de la disparition des ours polaires. Son défi : vivre un an en réduisant au maximum son
empreinte environnementale. Jusque-là, pas de quoi parader, d'autres l'ont fait avant lui. La grande
différence c'est que ledit Colin Beavan vit en plein coeur de Manhattan, au 9e étage d'un building.
Et qui dit réduction des émissions de carbone dit pas d'ascenseur, de climatiseur, de réfrigérateur, de
transport motorisé, entre autres, et quand on est un jeune père de famille, l'aventure tourne vite au
casse-tête. Son premier challenge : convaincre sa femme, quelque peu accro au shopping, de jouer le jeu. Le deuxième : renoncer aux couches et aux plats à emporter. Passées ces étapes... eh bien, tout reste encore à faire. L'expérience dure un an, le compte à rebours est enclenché !

La période de confinement, originellement établie à un an, finit par s'allonger inexorablement, l'atmosphère au-dehors ayant été jugée comme particulièrement nuisible. S'allonger sur elle et le lui mettre doit vous laisser la sensation d'une descente en luge sur les contreforts lustrés. Elle est elle-même le centre d'une circonférence accomplie. Remplie. Bombée. Fait songer à un flux de vie bien portante. Aux images de toutes les bonnes choses de la volupté. Viande appétissante quand on a une faim de loup. Verre de vin moiré rubis fauve sur la nappe immaculée d'une table dressée en plein air au soleil qui rissole le liquide. Epilepsy: the invisible pain
They say life is a long stretch of a calm river, but not for everyone ! She was for me until the day when everything rocked, the day my destiny was changed dramatically. People do not realize how life can be so sweet and so beautiful. They complain all day long for trivialities. They are not even aware that they have before their eyes the most beautiful wealth : the luck and happiness of living in good health. I was rich before. Now I am poor because my child has an incurable disease, that has currently no hope of being healed. As a parent, how can we accept that ? , How to continue living carrying the bundle of pain in my head ? , How to overcome this feeling of helplessness ? When I started speaking to my heart, I didn't know myself that this was the beginning of a new life : a rebirth as a poet. When I learnt that my 7-year-old daughter was suffering from the Dravet Syndrome, a rare genetic epileptic encephalopathy, this was like an earthquake in my life. Then, I needed to write in order to express my sorrow and my pain. Words and rhymes came naturally to my mind. This was obvious that poetry would be my survival weapon.

Herbert Maier travaille à cette encyclopédie depuis 2009, elle renferme aujourd'hui plus de 500 aquarelles. Car seule l'aquarelle, la transparence et la légèreté qui lui sont propres, permet de réaliser un aussi grand nombre d'images en si peu de temps.

Many people have heard two things about Archimedes: He was the greatest mathematician of antiquity and he ran naked from his bath crying, "Eureka, eureka!" Few of us, layperson or mathematician, are familiar with the accomplishments on which his reputation rests. This book describes in detail those astonishing accomplishments: how he
developed the theory of the lever and the center of gravity; how he used the center of gravity to study whether a floating object would tip over; how he summed a geometric series and the squares; and how he found the volume and surface area of a sphere. His ability to do so much with the few tools at his disposal is astonishing. He was like a one-person Institute for Advanced Study, making fundamental discoveries in the fields of geometry, mechanics and hydrostatics.
The exposition is leisurely and supported by a brief life of Archimedes and some 120 illustrations. Any reader who is aware that the graph of y = x2 is a parabola can follow all the reasoning. Although the book uses only high school mathematics, professional mathematicians will find much here of interest as well.

Polygyny in Pre-christian Bafut and New Moral Theological Perspectives
Polygyny, commonly called polygamy, has been one of the main obstacles to evangelisation in Africa. After Vatican II many theologians began to question the traditional church policy towards polygamists and their wives who, after receiving the faith, asked for baptism. The two main solutions proposed were the baptism and the life catechumenate solutions. The present work studies polygyny in pre-christian Bafut and traces the history of the problem of polygynous converts from 1201. It suggests that the real obstacle to their baptism is polysex, not poly-marriage. In the concluding chapter, a solution is offered to polysex, according to which the polygamist, after baptism, becomes a special kind of monogamist.

Read Ancient African scripts from any current African language. Volume 2
The son of Douaouf, the brilliant, scribe of the early XIIth Dynasty Xty " Khety " said this : "The man continues to subsist after reaching the haven of death and his actions are beside him in a heap. " If regression is the main cause of the alarming situation of Africa and its tails the perceptibles consequences at all levels, the solution to this problem is eminently political. It inevitably involves the constitution of a pan-African State. For men, there is no unity without memory of the past. In fact, the construction of a federal state inevitably involves the restoration of African historical consciousness. There is no national and federal identity without a common language. The unification of Africa will only be possible if it takes the measure of its linguistic unification issue. To a lesser extent but like Cheikh Anta Diop in his book titled the Cultural Unity, I was animated throughout this heuristic by the idea that only the true knowledge of the past can maintain the consciousness and the feeling of a historical continuity essential to the consolidation of a nation for the purpose of building a multinational state in line with its past. Like Cheikh Anta Diop, I build my sureness on the legitimate idea that a people who lost a significant part of their historical memory must engage in the investigation of their past in every possible way. This investigation can take the contours of a reconnection with its past through so-called old languages. But a people can not live only with by merely repeating of what others tell them about themselves. The investigation through its linguistic past allows especially a direct knowledge of oneself. In addition to the fact that this knowledge simply highlights its weaknesses, it allows also to become aware by an introspective and therefore reflective of its real abilities and strengths. It structures being and the consciousness of being to resist any form of servile and degrading ideology. This quest for the past, not founded on blind passion but objectivity, nourishes a healthy ambition for a real universalism. To know one's past is already to project one's future. To know one's past is to give oneself the capacity to be able to bring to others in a perspective of giving and receiving. To know one's past is to refuse intellectual guardianship and wait-and-seeism. To know one's past is to be reborn.
