Artistes et paysans. Battre la campagne
Depuis plusieurs années, des artistes tentent de s'extraire d'une représentation convenue du monde rural pour comprendre la réalité sociale, économique et environnementale de l'agriculture aujourd'hui. L'exposition que ce catalogue accompagne creuse le sillon d'une histoire collective, depuis l'entrée du monde paysan au musée, par l'intermédiaire de peintres du XIXe siècle et de l'ethnologie, jusqu'à ses représentations contemporaines. Elle s'écrit à travers les jalons fondamentaux que sont la famille, la métamorphose des paysages, les gestes, parfois pénibles, et les semences de celles et ceux qui plantent et cultivent. De la ferme à l'abattoir, lieu oublié de l'histoire de l'art, les artistes présentés, parfois "artgriculteurs", appellent à produire en commun, sous la forme d'un dialogue inédit entre l'art et l'agriculture, à l'image du réinvestissement nécessaire de notre lien avec le vivant.

GLIM FOR ECOLOGISTS. Disk included
Learning GLIM will almost certainly change the way you do statistics. The flexibility and generality of the GLIM language encourage a different approach to statistical analysis, which stresses parameter estimation and model criticism rather than hypothesis testing. The GLIM package can handle most of the models that ecologists are likely to fit to their data, including log-linear models of count data using Poisson errors, logistic regression of proportion data using binomial errors, and a wide variety of models for the analysis of survival data. It also allows an extremely general approach to more familiar procedures such as analysis of variance, multiple regression and the analysis of contingency tables.
The book provides a practical approach to learning the rationale and methods of linear modelling, starting from absolute basics and progressing in simple steps to cover the critical analysis of experimental and observational data. Minimal background in mathematics or statistical theory is assumed, and the book is aimed at all ecologists front students to experienced researchers. Statistical modelling in GLIM is introduced through an extensive series of ecological examples, where graphical display, model criticism, model simplification, plots of residuals and tests of assumptions about error specification are explained in full. The reader is encouraged to work through examples while sitting at a computer, and all of the necessary data, along with numerous exercises and fully worked answers, are provided on a disk supplied at the back of the book.
GLIM for Ecologists is not a statistical recipe book; it informs and educates on the proper use of statistics in ecology, on experimental design and on how to get the most out of your data. Learning GLIM Will certainly bc worth the effort. It's not a question of finding out how to do the same old tests in yet another new statistics package. On the contrary, it involves mastering a powerful set of tools that were originally developed for professional statisticians, but which are now accessible to ecologists through the simple step-by-step approach adopted in this book.

The full-length work, which premiered in Sydney in 2003, was written for choreographer Meryl Tankard after the two artists had already worked together for the opening ceremony of the 2000 Olympic Games, and became one of the composer's greatest successes. Gabrielle Roy and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry:-«Terre des Hommes» - Self and Non-Self
The pivotal work within the literary corpus of both Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and Gabrielle Roy each, significantly, bears the title Terre des hommes. Saint-Exupéry encapsulates the results of a searching existential and humanist enquiry into a récit (1939), and Roy her similar findings into a thirty-page essay commissioned to introduce the 1967 Montréal World Exposition, itself named "Terre des Hommes". These pieces of writing, and the development of their key themes in other texts, lend themselves eminently to comparison for through Roy's essay we learn of her specific attraction to the Exupérian ethos of "l'homme" (self) and man's interaction with "la terre" (non-self). The present study aims principally to detect the presence of these essences in each author's work. In a subsidiary way it also endeavours to situate their rationals within a certain historico-literary context. Finally, an attempt is made to critically assess especially Roy's distinctive representation, through literature, of the self and the exterior world.

Style and Rhetoric in Bertrand Russels's Work
A thorough examination of Bertrand Russell's language is the object of this study. Since this is the first major analysis of his writing style, examples taken from a wide spectrum of his writings are examined. Structurally the investigation begins by treating individual vocabulary and then moves on to larger structural units, covering such areas as figurative language and description. The final chapter deals with his rhetoric, discussing his methods of persuasion and the logic of his arguments. This careful analysis of his writings is significant in that it sheds new light on interesting aspects of Russell's character.

Le classique de Kakuzo édité dans la collection à reliure chinoise Le Livre du thé a été écrit par Okakura Kakuzo au début du 20e siècle et publié pour la première fois en 1906 et sans cesse réédité depuis. Dans ce livre, Kakuzo présente le terme "théisme" et explique comment le thé a affecté presque tous les aspects de la culture, de la pensée et de la vie japonaises. Le livre est accessible au public occidental car Kakuzo a appris très jeune à parler anglais et l'a parlé toute sa vie, devenant ainsi compétent pour communiquer ses pensées à l'esprit occidental. Dans son livre, il traite de sujets tels que le Zen et le Taoïsme, mais aussi de l'aspect profane du thé et, de façon plus générale, de l'art japonais. Le livre met l'accent sur la façon dont le rituel du thé nous renseigne sur la façon de vivre et de penser des Japonais. Kakuzo, qui a longuement étudié les arts, explique que la simplicité du rituel du thé a affecté de manière significative l'art et l'architecture. Le livre s'achève sur un chapitre portant sur les Maîtres de Thé. Délicatement illustré, ce livre est un voyage dans la culture japonaise.

Just as I finished grabbing it, a sharp pain suddenly was erupting on the inside edge of my lair ! Simultaneously, a tension as unbearable as it was horrifying blocked me trying to pull me towards the surface. The kanakäs had just intercepted me through this lethal decoy ! So, with all my mass and was arching my body with all my strength in the opposite direction, I was regained some slack on this terribly resistant link, feeling all the mass of the platform preventing me from probing like the dontokä before. However, I was determined to show them which of us would be most worthy of remaining in the Incompressible, when with a devastating lateral movement, I severed with a sharp blow the lethal and imperceptible tether ! By this counter blow, I was as if immediately ejected : the perfidious artifact still embedded in my lair lying painfully like a relic of this ubiquitous creature of the System.

The discovery of magic
Queen Vispa and King Dungammei are the beloved rulers of their respective kingdoms. The two territories live in harmony, sharing a temple that crosses their mutual border, but they pray to different gods and have little in common outside of geography. The monarchs seem an unlikely pair, but when each violates the rules of the temple - one by entering the temple as a woman, and the other by praying to the other kingdom's god - both find themselves abandoned by their people, deciding soon after to declare the approval and presence of both gods in their hearts, as well as their love for each other. The King and Queen's subjects also abandon the shared temple, leaving it to the disobedient pair and building separate temples in their own territories. The monarchs' happy life together is, however, short-lived, as Queen Vispa dies upon giving birth to their child Delarai. The King is urged to repent and return to his kingdom. He complies, leaving princess Delarai with Magi, a nurse from a remote village, to raise her. Delarai rows up in near isolation, far from other people, spending most of her time among flowers and animals of the beautiful temple garden. Meanwhile, battles rage between the two kingdoms following the King's return. Delaware, a son begotten to the King and his next wife, gets badly wounded some years later in an attempt to stop the fighting. On his deathbed, the Prince insists on being taken to the forbidden temple to be buried there. The King, though ill himself, agrees to fulfill his son's dying wish. It is there where Delarai, having become quite an expert at herbal remedies, comes to their aid, preparing a special potion while praying to the temple's two gods in her nurse Magi's native language. As Delarai completes the life-saving act of curing the Prince, she tries to call for Magi, but the word that leaves her lips is "magic". Those who witness the event soon spread the word, and Delarai becomes recognized across both kingdoms as the creator of magic. The King, however, succumbs to old age, imparting his last kernel of wisdom unto his daughter : the two temple gods are one and the same. Graines de danseurs Tome 1 : Une battle explosive
Le premier tome d'une série de danse pas comme les autres ! Victoire, Effia, Antoine, Lou et Max ont une seule passion : la danse ! Même si certains préfèrent la danse classique, d'autres le hip hop, l'improvisation ou la danse contemporaine, dès que l'école est terminée, les voilà qui foncent dans leur club de danse pour prendre des cours et s'entraîner. Alors que Lou montre à Max, son frère jumeau, de nouveaux mouvements de danse dans la cour de récré, elle percute Antoine et refuse de s'excuser. A la place, elle lui propose une battle : classique contre street dance. Le résultat est incroyable et donne une belle idée à Amélia, la surveillante et prof de danse : réunir les danseurs afin de mettre au point une chorégraphie originale pour le spectacle de Noël et montrer aux enfants qu'ils partagent beaucoup plus qu'ils ne le pensent.
