Ce livre réexamine la représentation de la famille dans des romans, albums ou pièces de théâtre pour la jeunesse relevant de différentes aires géographiques, culturelles et linguistiques. Bienveillants ou aliénants, les liens tissés entre générations ou au sein de la fratrie conditionnent la construction des jeunes protagonistes. La littérature de jeunesse reflète la diversité de la famille et sa capacité à évoluer, voire à se réinventer (familles monoparentales ou homoparentales, recomposées, adoptives...). En proposant des modèles parfois éloignés des réalités connues des lecteurs, elle les invite à réévaluer leur propre expérience mais témoigne aussi d'une certaine constance des attentes et des interrogations que l'institution suscite. This book re-examines the representation of the family in novels, picture books or theatre plays for young people, belonging to various geographical, cultural and linguistic areas. The bonds between generations or among siblings, whether benevolent or destructive, play a decisive part in the young protagonists' development. Children's literature is shown to reflect the diversity of the family as an institution and its ability to change or even to reinvent itself (single-parent, same-sex-parent, blended or adoptive families...). Its fictional representations of the family may differ from the realities experienced by the readers, and invites them to reconsider their own experiences, yet show expectations and questions related to family life to remain fairly constant.

Nietzsche and the End of Freedom
Nietzsche's writing is not some game of 'freeplay' and terms like 'intertextuality' are useless in discussing its influence. This study takes Nietzsche, then Kafka's Trial, Thomas Mann's Death in Venice, Heinrich Mann's Man of Straw, Rilke's Malte Laurids Brigge and Musil's Törless. Ce livre recueille les commentaires délirants de deux cousins, fervents amateurs de bons mots, à propos de l'actualité internationale, nationale voire locale (en l'occurrence le nord de la France) ainsi que des récits rocambolesques que l'on peut légitimement soupçonner d'avoir peu de fondements (et même, parfois, aucun). Ajoutez à cela quelques traits d'esprit (involontaires ou pas) relevés dans ses classes par Aura, professeur d'anglais en collège, et vous aurez à peu près le topo. Ces commentaires ont tous été publiés ces dernières années sur Facebook, sous la forme de "statuts", afin d'être partagés par Aura et Rico au sein de leurs cercles d'amis respectifs.

Burmese Silver from the Colonial Period
This stunning catalogue presents an exceptional collection of rare Burmese silver. Accompanied by detailed photographs and explanatory texts, this ground-breaking book proposes a new way of looking at Burmese silver. Names, dates, places, and stories - identifying the who, when, where, and what of Burmese silver has been the focus of publications on the topic. Are these questions the best way to understand silver, however ? Alexandra Green argues that they are not. Too few pieces provide reliable information about silversmiths, production locations, and dates to allow for a comprehensive understanding of the subject. Instead, a close examination of silver patterns reveals strong links with Burmese art history reaching as far back as the Bagan period (11th to 13th centuries), connections with contemporary artistic trends, and participation within the wider world of silversmithing. The first European to write about Burmese silver was H L Tilly, a colonial official from the late 19th into the early 20th century. Tasked with collecting objects for various fairs and exhibitions, he took an interest in Burmese art, publishing articles and books from the 1880s onwards. While much of what he wrote was factually inaccurate and coloured by the prejudices and stereotypes common at the time, his two volumes on Burmese silver published in 1902 and 1904 contain pictures of pieces from the early to mid 19th century. These enable a reconstruction of how silver designs evolved as the country was absorbed into the Indian Raj, and British and other Westerners became consumers of local silver products. Tilly was also correct in his interest in silver designs. Green uses the visual information from his books to describe the continuities and innovations of designs found on silver from the mid 19th through the mid 20th century, and she places these trends within local, regional, and global flows of ideas. Many studies of Burmese silver have been plagued by a lack of understanding of the Burmese context. In contrast, Green examines silver from a local perspective, drawing on Burmese texts and information that allows for a nuanced view of the motifs, designs, and patterns that appear repetitively on silver pieces. Using Graham Honeybill's collection, formed over many years, as a basis, she explores how designs and patterns circulated around the country and were innovatively combined and recombined on pieces by silversmiths producing objects for Burmese, Western, and commercial clients.

Thus, three different cultures converge : the world of the Hebrew Bible, the world of the ancient Near East, and the world of Africa. This volume examines in detail the history of the development of ancient laws in general and family laws in particular, especially the laws relating to marriages between close relatives. Furthermore, Johnson M. Kimuhu looks at prohibitions and taboos in Africa and the problems they pose with regard to the interpretation and translation of difficult biblical concepts into African languages. Erich Schmid (1907 - 2000) was an orchestra conductor, choir director and university lecturer who promoted world premieres and radio broadcasts of contemporary music in Switzerland. He himself studied with Bernhard Sekles, among others, then with Arnold Schönberg and followed the aesthetics of the New Viennese School in his compositions. The historical-critical Erich Schmid Edition publishes for the first time all sixteen opus-numbered works as well as three additional piano works. Suite No. 1 is an interesting hybrid that conveys the most modern compositional structure in the genre of light music. Schmid composed it shortly after the end of his year as a master student of Schönberg in Berlin. Like his other works of the time, its unusual instrumentation already shows an effort to move on from classical "high forms" and compose in looser structures, with the free use of the twelve-tone technique providing inner coherence. "Dance", "Waltz", "March" are linked by two inserted "Intermezzi" and introduced by an "Introduction". Not all movements require full instrumentation and are designed for solo rather than group performance. Fuzz Book
On le connait en tant que dessinateur de BD cultes comme Le Roi des mouches ou Love in Vain, mais Mezzo est également un illustrateur de renom. Affiches, pochettes d'albums, sérigraphies, couvertures de magazines... cet auteur exigeant a déjà mis son talent au service de supports divers et variés pour délivrer son univers underground, onirique, sexy et rock. Des images muettes qui, par leur force d'évocation, sont souvent aussi parlantes que des cases de BD.Ce très bel ouvrage recueille un florilège des illustrations que Mezzo a pu produire dans sa carrière hors bande dessinée. On prend plaisir à y retrouver son trait incisif, précis et sensuel, autour de quelques-uns de ses thèmes favoris : la musique, l'érotisme et le fantastique. Des pages de BD inédites (projets abandonnés, recherches graphiques du Roi des mouches et histoires courtes) viennent conclure ce panorama graphique d'un auteur à nul autre pareil.

Shark Book
Après une longue journée passée à dessiner ses séries en cours, Ju/CDM dessine pour se reposer. Il dessine des requins. C'est son fils de trois ans qui lui a transmis cette passion dévorante. Depuis plusieurs années, dans des carnets de différentes tailles, Julien dessine des requins puis les poste sur Facebook, où ils rencontrent un grand succès. A ce jour, il en a dessiné plus de 200. Ces exercices de styles sont exceptionnels, inventifs, variés, et toujours surprenants, drôles et magnifiquement dessinés. Ce livre, sous la forme d'un carnet de croquis, en regroupe une sélection.

Il est une chose dont peu se souviennent, c'est que l'Allemagne fut une puissance colonisatrice. De 1883 à 1916, elle occupa ce qu'on appelait alors le Sud-Ouest africain, l'actuelle Namibie. Il en est une autre que beaucoup ignorent, c'est que cette colonie fut le théâtre du premier génocide du xxe siècle. Un génocide oublié, occulté même, car le premier rapport officiel - le fameux Blue Book - sur le massacre des Hereros et des Namas fut soustrait à la connaissance du public en 1926. Elise Fontenaille-N'Diaye, alors qu'elle enquêtait sur son aïeul, le général Mangin, a retrouvé ce rapport disparu. Dès lors, elle se devait de raconter. Si ce livre vise à ranimer le souvenir de cette sombre page de l'histoire du colonialisme, il ne se veut pas un ouvrage de spécialiste. L'auteur y donne son point de vue d'écrivain, son point de vue personnel. Quelque part entre le désert du Kalahari et la presqu'île de Shark Island, au large de Lüderitz, s'est déroulée une macabre répétition générale, préfiguration des exterminations à venir.

Après "la vedette" "le canonnier de Vodkagrad" et "la taupe de Botagogo", Malo Louarn nous a concocté un nouvel opus avec le célébrissime Dupaxon. Il est mauvais Dupaxon ! Dans le plus grand secret, les dirigeants de l'Olympic F.C. se mettent tous d'accord pour gagner beaucoup d'argent au prochain match et font appel à un bookmaker. Dupaxon devient le propriétaire d'un bouc. Patpanic fait de gros efforts pour apprendre le français. Tous ces ingrédients vont provoquer un incroyable quiproquo : le book... le bouc... le bookmaker... le bouc m'écoeure... Qui va finalement gagner le match ? Qui va ramasser le pactole ? Dupaxon est-il vraiment si mauvais ? Lisez cette nouvelle aventure footballistique vraiment drôle et vous saurez qui est le fameux joueur "Hémissaire" !

Le journal qui défoule et qui fait vraiment du bien ! Un journal intime sans tabou ! La colère est un sentiment souvent présenté de façon négative et culpabilisatrice alors que c'est une émotion élémentaire de notre panel émotionnel qui révèle bien plus de nous-mêmes que d'autres. Dans ce Burn Book, la personne pourra écrire sur des personnes, des évènements, des situations qui la révoltent et également lire et réagir à différents textes et activités sur la colère qui les aideront à mieux comprendre cette émotion et donc son message. Un cahier de stickers permettra au lecteur de personnaliser les pages et de s'approprier pleinement le journal. Un journal défouloir intelligent, qui met la colère au coeur des dénouements !

Towards the Sun. The Artist - Traveller at the Turn of the Twentieth Century
Bien qu'il y ait eu des monographies sur les artistes voyageurs britanniques du XVIIIème et du début du XIXème siècles, il n'existe aucune enquête de ce que l'écrivain Henry Blackburn décrivait de "voyage artistique" un siècle plus tard. A partir de 1900, le "Grand Touriste" est devenu un globe-trotteur muni d'un appareil photo et, malgré le développement de la photographie instantanée, l'enregistrement visuel immédiat en huile et aquarelle reste le plus répandu. Kenneth McConkey's exciting new book explores the complex reasons for this in a series of chapters that take the reader from southern Europe to north Africa, the Middle East, India and Japan revealing many artist-travellers whose lives and works are scarcely remembered today. He alerts us to a generation of painters, trained in academies and artists' colonies in Europe that acted as crèches for those would go on to explore life and landscape further afi eld. The seeds of wanderlust were sown in student years in places where tuition was conducted in French or German, and models were often Spanish, Italian, or North African. At fi rst the countries of western Europe were explored afresh and cities like Tangier became artists' haunts. Training that prioritized plein air naturalism led to the common belief that a well-schooled young painter should be capable of working anywhere, and in any circumstances. At the height of British Imperial power, and facilitated by engineering and technological advance, the burgeoning tourism and travel industry rippled into the production of specialist goods and services that included a dedicated publishing sector. Essential to this phenomenon, the artist-traveller was often commissioned by London dealers to supply themed exhibitions that coincided with contracts for colour-illustrated books recording those exotic parts of the world that were newly available to the tourist, traveller, explorer, emigrant, or colonial civil servant. These works were not, however, value-neutral, and in some instances, they directly address Orientalism, Imperialism, and the Post-Colonial, in pictures that hybridize, or mimic indigenous ways of life. Behind each there is a range of interesting questions. Does experience live up to expectation ? Is the street more desirable than the ancient ruin or sacred site ? How were older ideas of the 'picturesque' reborn in an age when 'Grand Tours' once confi ned to Italy, now encompassed the globe ? McConkey's wideranging survey hopes to address some of these issues. This richly illustrated book explores key sites visited by artist-travellers and investigates artists including Frank Brangwyn, Mary Cameron, Alfred East, John Lavery, Arthur Melville, Mortimer Menpes, as well as other under-researched British artists. Drawing the strands together, it redefi nes the picturesque, by considering issues of visualization and verisimilitude, dissemination and aesthetic value.

Voici le récit complet du film Totoro, montage en BD des images du film éponyme à la manière du roman-photo. On y retrouve la famille Kusakabe, arrivant à la campagne et s'installant dans une maison bucolique près de laquelle s'élève un arbre immense.
