Linos-Alexandre Sicilianos has served as a judge of the European Court of Human Rights since 2011. He served as President of Section, Vice-President of the Court and was elected President of the Court in May 2019 and served until May 2020. On the occasion of the end of his mandate as President, his colleagues, friends and collaborators wish to honour him and in particular recognise his impressive achievements in the cause of human rights. The theme chosen to honour Linos-Alexandre Sicilianos revolves around the notion of a fair trial, a concept which is examined both from a regional and international perspective. The publication, whilst open to new horizons and developments, covers topics that are directly related to principles that are considered fundamental in a democratic society, in particular the rule of law, as reflected in the right to a fair trial and access to court. The existence of independent and impartial courts has always been a focal point in the judicial philosophy of Linos-Alexandre Sicilianos as an international law scholar and a human rights judge. Les mystères de la procession de Lille. Tome 2, de Josué à David
Le tome II des Mystères de la procession de Lille contient l'édition critique de seize pièces dramatiques inspirées de l'Ancien Testament. Ces mystères sont connus par un manuscrit unique conservé à la Herzog August Bibliothek à Wolfenbüttel, qui renferme en tout soixante-douze mystères joués à Lille à l'occasion de la grande procession annuelle de cette ville. Les pièces présentées dans ce tome traitent de l'histoire biblique depuis le livre de Josué jusqu'au deuxième livre de Samuel. Deux de ces mystères sont consacrés à Josué et deux autres pièces mettent en scène les guerres de Saül. On trouvera aussi l'histoire de Gédéon et de la toison ainsi que le mariage de Booz et de Ruth. Le tome se clôt sur une série de neuf pièces qui traitent de la vie et du règne de David. Les mystères suivants paraîtront dans les trois tomes à venir.

The title of the exhibition refers to both a literal thread of figuration that runs
throughout the works in the presentation, as well as the complex and often shifting
symbolism of the human body in the medieval period. For thinkers and artists of
that time, the human body served as a rich source of religious and philosophical
significance, one that was in a constant state of flux between idealism and
disfigurement. While the early Middle Ages reserved representations of suffering
bodies to the margins of their world, the later Middle Ages displayed wounded
bodies in the most central spaces of public life. The crucified body of Christ and the
wounded bodies of saints assumed important positions as they were displayed on
altars, in processions, and on the exteriors of churches.
The Medieval Body tells a unique story about the human form as both a physical
entity and a recognizable metaphor. Presenting works spanning the course of a
thousand years, this exhibition offers insight into the body as an essential imagemaking
tool with far-reaching implications for the development of art in the
European Middle Ages.

Covenant and Liberation
This book springs from the practical interaction of two absorbing interests : in covenant, thanks to many years of lecturing on the Scriptures, in which covenants provide a sure road from start to finish of the Bible ; and in liberation, an interest sharpened by more than a decade of working in a Lima parish with people struggling desperately to break free from the cycle of poverty, oppression and premature death. Theirs is part of the struggle for liberation throughout Latin America and many other parts of our global home. Reflecting with the poor on their situation in the light of the Scriptures has led to a fuller realization that covenant and liberation are two sides of the same coin - liberation is for covenant, and covenant is to consolidate and promote freedom as befits God's family. First comes a synthesis of the biblical covenants, indicating their continuity but also the unique characteristics of each one. Special attention is paid to the new covenant, often reflected in terms of kingdom, community, family and mutual love. Then it is indicated how new light may be drawn from such a central biblical theme in order to view correctly and share personally in today's liberation struggles.

Built in the 19th century to excavate the world-renowned Belgian blue stone, today, the quarry is home to an ambitious project : the Pôle de la Pierre, a training centre specialising in the stone industry. The book covers the transformation of the site in three essays : - a photographic essay by Marie Noëlle Dailly exploring the interior and exterior spaces and landscapes of the transformed site - a conceptual essay inscribing the Soignies project in the more general context of the reuse of industrial heritage ; - a graphic essay that reconstructs the transformation of the site as a process of place-making as well as a collective process of meaning-making by means of documents, photographs of the construction phases, drawings, and sketches.

The aim of this volume is to extend some of the classical results of Kondratiev, Maz'ya-Plamenevskii, Grisvard and Dauge, about the singular behaviour of the weak solution of a boundary value problem in a nonsmooth domain to the setting of boundary value problems on a two-dimensional polygonal topological network (roughly speaking it is a network such that each face is a polygon). Some mechanical phenomena were recently described by boundary value problems on such networks : let us quote vibrating folded membranes, composite plates, folded plates, junctions in elastic multi-structures. In view to numerical applications, the singularities, as well as their coefficients (the so-called stress intensity factors) are described explicitly. The obtained decomposition into regular and singular parts also leads to the Fredholm property of the associated operator between appropriate Sobolev spaces.

The Transcultural Dictionary of Misunderstandings. European and Chinese Horizons is the result of an initiative which forges a radically new path for promoting transcultural understanding by studying culture-bound keywords. The stimulating idea is to create and address with intention that which is generally held to be by all means avoided : namely, misunderstandings. The experiment starts with a level of communication that is not political per se but cultural. Cultures have no rigid borders like nation-states. They are more dynamic and meandering, open to influence, and translatable. Like cultures themselves, keywords are saturated with history, long-term experience, values, and collective emotions. They carry a load of tacit knowledge and implicit axioms that have the advantage of not having to be unpacked, explained, or spelled out. Japanese for busy people I. Revised edition
In the ten years since its publication, Japanese for Busy People has won acceptance worldwide as an effective, easy-to-understand textbook, either for classroom use or for independent study. In this new edition, numerous revisions and additions have been made, taking into account the comments and responses of both students and teachers who have been using the course. In Book 1, the revisions are directed at making the grammatical explanations easier to understand, while adding further explanations of points that students have difficulty with. Changes have also been made in favor of more natural practice sentences and dialogues. In addition, new appendices list the particles, interrogatives, and sentence patterns in the book, as well as the kanji introduced. More fundamental revisions have been made to Book II, which has been expanded and divided into two volumes, Book II and Book III.
