Les plus grands poètes chinois classiques, de Juan Chi (iiie siècle) à Ryokan (xviiie siècle), en passant par Han Shan, Wang Wei ou encore Li Po, sont imprégnés de l'esprit du tao et du ch'an (équivalent du Zen japonais). Cette inspiration philosophique met l'accent sur les thèmes de la Voie, de l'écoute de Soi et de l'ermitage en montagne. Leurs poèmes ici choisis et rassemblés sont rehaussés par une calligraphie originale.
Né à Marseille en 1946, Daniel Giraud a fondé une revue, écrit poésie et essais et s'est particulièrement intéressé à la pensée chinoise Ch'an, l'astrologie et l'alchimie. Il a traduit le Tao Te Ching, le I Ching et de nombreux poètes chinois dont Li Po.
Long Gue, originaire de Mongolie, est un peintre et calligraphe chinois.

900 Years of St Bartholomew's. The History, Art and Architecture of London's Oldest Parish Church
This important book presents a comprehensive history of St Bartholomew the Great, the oldest parish church in London. In 2023, the Priory Church and Hospital will celebrate the 900th anniversary of their foundation. At the heart of the Smithfield area, with its hospital, pubs, restaurants and market, is a church built when Henry I, son of William the Conqueror, was King of England. Overlooking the fields where kings confronted rebellions, knights jousted and heretics were burnt, St Bartholomew's Priory and Hospital played a central role in the history of medieval London. Partially torn down by order of Henry VIII during the Dissolution of the Monasteries, the Priory was reborn as a parish church. It served the City of London through the tumultuous years of the Reformation and the Civil War and has played host to many of London's most famous residents. William Hogarth was baptized in its font. Charles Wesley preached in its pulpit. Benjamin Franklin served as a printer's apprentice in its former Lady Chapel. John Betjeman lived across the street and memorialized it in his poetry. The history of St Bartholomew's is a tale of miraculous survival and continual renewal. It came out unscathed from the Great Fire of 1666 and the bombs dropped in Zeppelin raids in World War I and during the Blitz in World War II. Its splendid Romanesque core has been added to by each successive generation. This volume - the first comprehensive history of the Church since 1921 - will survey the art, architecture and historical significance of the City of London's oldest parish church in a scholarly, yet accessible tone. Biodiversity and strategy.. Subtle equilibriums
Biodiversity conservation calls for a revolutionary approach to our relationship with nature and the living world. But it also requires completely rethinking the way we develop international policies and strategies. While these instruments must deal with a highly complex reality, they are too often viewed as simple action plans. Measures and initiatives that are focused on mainly technical solutions eventually result in unfortunate setbacks when the often unpredictable and ever-changing dynamics of life come into play. The United Nations Biodiversity Conference (COP15) was held in 2022, and despite the adoption of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, it failed to produce a truly innovative approach to international 'strategy'. It is therefore more necessary than ever to reconsider the official diagnosis that underpins international action. Although certainly difficult, this can be done by mobilising a wide range of expertise from different scientific communities. Drawing on numerous examples and a wealth of research from the humanities, social sciences and conservation sciences, this book offers a profoundly renewed strategic diagnosis as well as levers for activating regenerative processes to benefit the living world.

Après une dispute avec Takashi, qu'il blesse accidentellement, maître Fu Li l'envoie à Kyoto, auprès de Jian Lian, le moine chinois, pour qu'il apprenne le Qi Gong et se reconnecte à ses énergies. Pendant son voyage, il fera la connaissance du dragon azur qui lui parlera du rituel de purification des ninjas, via des cascades d'eau glacées. Ce rituel pourrait l'aider à lier ses deux parties (sa partie humaine et sa partie dragon). Il monte donc dans les montagnes de Nagano pour s'y plier. Mais sur son chemin, il croisera Izumi, une jeune fille également mi-dragon mi-humaine qui voudra voler ses pouvoirs (et devenir un dragon à part entière). Ils combattront... et finalement, deviendront amis. Ils décideront alors de fonder une école pour les enfants métisses mi-humains mi-créatures magiques.

1001 Nights. Edition français-anglais-allemand
In the late 1910s, in a Europe ravaged by World War I, Danish illustrator Kay Nielsen put the finishing touches on his illustrations of A Thousand and One Nights. The results are considered masterpieces of early 20th-century illustration : bursting with sumptuous colors of deep blues, reds, and gold leaf, and evoking all the magic of this legendary collection of Indo-Persian and Arabic folktales, compiled between the 8th and 13th centuries. However, publishers retreated from Nielsen's project in the financially strapped postwar climate, and the publication never happened. A rising star, Nielsen moved on to other work. This world heritage classic's spectacular pen, ink, and watercolor images remained under lock and key for 40 years. Published just once in the 1970s, the illustrations were rescued from oblivion after Nielsen's death in 1957 and are now held by the UCLA Grunwald Center for the Graphic Arts at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, the Art Institute of Chicago, and in two private collections. This publication is a unique compilation of fine art prints and stunning illustrations reproduced directly from Nielsen's original watercolors-the only complete set of his extraordinary drawings to have survived. The book features descriptions of all of the images and three generously illustrated essays on the making of this series, the origin of Nielsen's unique imagery, and a history of the tales. In addition, it shows many unpublished or rarely seen artworks by Nielsen and intricate black-and-white drawings Nielsen created for the original publication.

Le paysan de Paris d'Aragon
"En relisant son oeuvre, à la fin de sa vie, Aragon parle de "ce brusque exercice" où il est entré "un beau jour comme à la recherche d'un nouveau langage", et qui devint Le Paysan de Paris. Il définit ainsi son oeuvre comme le fruit d'une quête mais n'y voit qu'une simple étape, un exercice de style. En effet, plus de soixante-dix ans après sa publication, ce livre - car il est difficile d'employer un mot plus précis - peut apparaître comme un lieu de tension, un carrefour où se croisent tous les chemins d'une oeuvre si foisonnante qu'elle en acquiert presque les dimensions de "l'infini" qu'Aragon a voulu défendre et faire entrer dans sa vie". Un été de la Belle Epoque, Louis Aragon, onze ans, passe des vacances à Port-Bail, station balnéaire du Cotentin, qui avait été chantée par Hugo et Barbey d'Aurevilly, des rapprochements à faire entre les écrits sur Port-Bail des trois romanciers. Souvenir si marquant d'impressions poétiques, d'amour fou pour une pêcheuse de crevettes, d'observations sur les rapports sociaux que, illustration de sa technique de composition à partir de "pilotis" et de "lieux de fixation", l'écrivain l'émiette sur toute son oeuvre. Il s'en sert, notamment, comme tremplin pour lancer la féerie du Paysan de Paris ou la fresque politique des Cloches de Bâle, conclut sur lui l'autobiographique Le Mentir-Vrai, les dunes de Port-Bail le décor aussi de l'un des chapitres des Communistes. Ayant lui-même passé toute son enfance à Port-Bail, Christian Gury précise, par la géographie et l'histoire locales, les conditions du séjour et les raisons de l'enchantement d'un Aragon sensible aux plaisirs de la plage et de la mer.

The Biblical Vision of the Human Person
Although modern study of the Bible has made impressive philological advances, it lacks an adequate philosophical frame of reference that would link the symbolism of the Biblical narrative to the problems of human existence. The present work sets out to provide the germ of a philosophy of language and human consciousness that would serve as a basis for a proper exegesis of the Biblical text. Part One establishes the historical, philosophical and hermeneutical framework by examining the link between experience, symbolization and the structure of human consciousness as elaborated historically in myth and philosophy. Part Two applies this framework to representative anthropological texts from the Old and New Testaments in order to forge a link between the Biblical symbolism and the fundamental problems of human existence. Part Three draws attention to the implications of the inquiry for a philosophical anthropology and a more comprehensive hermeneutical framework.

The Image of the Woman in the Works of Ingeborg Bachmann
In this study an analysis of the women characters, who play a dominant part in Bachmann's prose writings, was presented. The results suggested a complex but coherent image. It was found that although the characteristics of this image deserved the appellation "sex-specific" and "traditional" they were infused with new values : the values of individualism, of a specifically female identity and of particular intense personal freedom. It was also found that the theme of personal freedom underlies all motivations, conflicts and situations of tragedy of Bachmann's heroines. Finally, it was found that the image of the woman is not only part of a distinct female-male antithesis, which often assumes violent dimensions, but has a redeeming function for a de-humanized world.
