Le pianiste From n'aurait peut-être pas dû arrêter de la travailler pour rejoindre, dans un château du Lubéron, une femme qui l'appelle et qu'il croit ne plus aimer. Le séjour dure environ une semaine. Lizhie a les attaches fines, une robe fuchsia et ressemble à une biche. From la suit jusqu'où Mozart le conduisait : un rêve et un trou. From ne résiste jamais à ce qu'il aime en lui échappant. La musique est ancienne, l'histoire se passe aujourd'hui.

The Phenomenology of Freedom in Kleist's Die Familie Schroffenstein</I> and "Penthesilea</I>"
This study describes from an ontological perspective the foundation of freedom in two of Kleist's dramas. The novelty of this approach lies in the author's departure from the ontic considerations of freedom characterizing traditional Kleist scholarship. The present study advocates a de-construction of Kleist's concept of freedom back to its ontological basis : freedom is a cooperative enterprise of man and his situation. It is the author's contention that freedom in Kleist's works, rather than being defined by "a priori" categories, ensues primarily from the situation wherein it is being enacted. Man's relation to this situation is explored in a universal (Schroffenstein) and particular (Penthesilea) environment.

The Christian theology of religions at present faces a crisis. What precisely is the task of the theology of religions ? Does it merely consist in interpreting the non-Christian religions as steps, phases or contributions in the light of Christianity ? Has one from the theological side conceded the maximum to the non-Christian religions by acknowledging them as anonymous Christianity (Karl Rahner)? This study is an exploration on how one shall liberate the religion of the other from anonymity : how one shall leave the other with his/her own name. The model of thought employed in this study is gained through an analysis of the intercultural process of understanding, explained with instances from Africa and South America.

D'abord, il y a cette fille solitaire, un peu paumée qui ne met d'énergie qu'à se saboter. Elle ne sait pas ce qu'elle veut, ne l'a jamais vraiment su. L'Amérique des livres et les grands espaces, l'attirent. Alors un jour, sur un coup de tête, elle se décide à partir en Road Trip. De l'autre côté de l'océan, il y a un type, un musicien peu bavard qui attire moins les cachets que la méfiance. Il porte toujours ce chapeau noir avec une plume de corbeau. Il passe le plus clair de son temps sur la route. Ils n'ont rien en commun, si ce n'est qu'elle semble voir des corbeaux partout depuis quelques temps... et pourtant. Leurs lignes de vie se croisent curieusement, avec ce goût doux-amer d'un quelque chose qui semble leur échapper. Nb : Une histoire, une main, deux plumes. Traduire, c'est trahir (Traduttore, traditore) disait déjà Du Bellay. Les dialogues de ce roman sont écrits en deux langues : le français et l'anglais, en fonction des lieux et des personnages tout au long de l'histoire. ILS NE SONT PAS TRADUITS. Un élan qui se veut refléter avec plus de fidélité la réalité des voyages et des rencontres en terres étrangères.

Sources and Dynamics of Macroeconomic Fluctuations in Switzerland: Evidence from a Structural Vector Autoregressive Approach
The economic stagnation experienced in Switzerland in the 1990s has intensified the debate about the primary causes of economic fluctuations in small-open-economies. However, conclusive empirical evidence on the relative importance of real vs. nominal and domestic vs. foreign influences is scarce. A lack of identification often prevents the unveiling of underlying fundamental shocks and causes empirical puzzles in applied work. In a model for the Swiss economy these problems can be overcome with a correct specification of the open-economy setting and the identification of monetary policy. Structural vector autoregressions provide an effective tool to incorporate these structural aspects into modeling, without restricting dynamic interactions among the variables. This model can be applied to assess the transmission channels and the relative importance of different sources of shocks for the Swiss business cycle. The evidence is clear-cut : real domestic shocks and foreign shocks by far dominate economic activity in Switzerland. Exchange rates emerge as an important transmission channel for foreign shocks in the Swiss economy. Therefore, even though monetary policy does not seem to be a major source of fluctuations by itself, it still has a potentially important role to play in macroeconomic stabilization. The model is applied to study the specific situation of the Swiss economy in the nineties. During that period it can be shown, that Switzerland witnessed two mini cycles with substantially different sources.

National Socialism in Oceania
In today's security-conscious environment, the loyalties and allegiances of migrant communities are increasingly being brought into question. Drawing on the collected knowledge of a number of Australian experts investigating interwar issues of security, surveillance and civic rights from the perspective of migration studies, this book aims, through the examination of individuals and groups in Oceania who were targeted for potential subversion or believed to hold National Socialist sympathies (including local National Socialists, Italian-Australians, Russian exiles, members of the right-wing movements the New Guard and Australia First), to consider how issues of security were regarded at another critical point in world history and what lessons we may learn from that period today. This book examines a variety of motives for embracing National Socialism and investing hope in the Third Reich. Attitudes shifted over time from enthusiasm to scepticism and disappointment. But, most importantly, beyond support and opposition, there was a surprising level of disengagement and indifference from sister movements on the radical right. This groundbreaking study defies easy answers and previously-held understandings, and will stimulate debate and further research.

Les auteurs se sont posé cette question, car si la maladie est toujours là, plus de 35 ans après la découverte du virus responsable, elle paraît banalisée. Qui en parle ? Les patients ? En général, non. Les médias ? De moins en moins, si ce n'est plus du tout. Ce n'est plus "une maladie à la mode" , nous a rétorqué un journaliste ! Certes, mais 150 000 patients en France vivent avec ce virus et le nombre de nouvelles contaminations par an ne baisse pas : 7 000 nouveaux cas d'infection. Alors, comment vivent ces personnes ? C'est ce que nous avons voulu savoir. A travers 20 témoignages de patients, nous en avons appris beaucoup. Pour certains, "on fait ce qu'il faut, mais on l'oublie vite" , une forme de déni en quelque sorte ; pour d'autres, "c'est le combat de leur vie" et ils s'investissent auprès des associations de malades et sur Internet. Il n'y a donc pas de "portrait-robot" face à cette maladie. Vous découvrirez, à la lecture de ces 20 témoignages de patients, que se mêlent, selon les cas, la passion, l'amour, la recherche du plaisir, la joie, la résilience, mais aussi la peur, la mort, la drogue, la prostitution, l'oubli, la honte, l'isolement. Cet ouvrage est complété de témoignages de soignants, en prise au quotidien avec cette maladie. Espérons qu'il permettra à chaque lecteur d'envisager différemment l'infection par le VIH/Sida, même si "elle n'est plus à la mode" , et de regarder son voisin séropositif d'un oeil nouveau.

Face au sida, quel comportement en Afrique ? L'exemple du Cameroun
Les jeunes du Cameroun ont des pratiques d'exposition au risque du Vih/ Sida, notamment au travers des comportements comme le multi-partenariat, le mono-partenariat avec un partenaire qui a plusieurs partenaires, la non-utilisation ou l'utilisation occasionnelle du préservatif, l'ignorance de son statut sérologique et de celui du partenaire. Le présent ouvrage questionne et rend compte des facteurs qui sous-tendent les comportements d'exposition au risque par ces jeunes qui sont pourtant bien informés sur le Vih/Sida. Il montre comment, derrière la question du Sida, se profile aussi un positionnement des peuples par rapport à l'idéologie des rapports qui structurent la domination à l'échelon mondial. Il explique comment le contexte de domination (culturel, économique, politique...) où vivent ces jeunes ainsi que leur relation forte et complexe à l'Occident, contribuent à analyser la recrudescence du Vih sous l'angle du complot contre l'Afrique. La prise de risque intervient dans un contexte local de maladie, de chômage massif des jeunes, de pauvreté et d'incertitude dans lequel les acteurs ne peuvent compter que sur eux-mêmes. C'est le chacun pour soi dans l'immédiateté et le "full contact" a ceci de particulier qu'il permet de maximiser la jouissance dans l'instant. Face aux questions de sexe et de mort qui constituent pour eux un double enjeu terrifiant, ces jeunes mettent en oeuvre des mécanismes de défense pour les évacuer. Ils concernent la rationalisation du risque d'une part et la désignation des boucs émissaires d'autre part. Ces procédés de rationalisation et de "bouc-émissarisation" à la fois leur permettent de justifier leur comportement non conforme au discours médical sur la prévention et de conjurer la peur d'être infecté.

Au temps de la peste bleue. Une enquête de Silas Robinson
En 1854, une épidémie de choléra sévit à Montréal. On l'appelle la "peste bleue" à cause de la teinte particulière de la peau des malades agonisants. Lorsqu'on dégage un espace dans la forêt du Mont-Royal pour accueillir les victimes de la maladie, un squelette vieux de plusieurs années est découvert. Y a-t-il un lien entre ce cadavre et l'épidémie ? Silas Robinson se voit confier l'enquête.
