Initialement annoncée en mars 2016, un mois avant le décès de l'artiste, l'autobiographie illustrée de Prince éditée par Dan Piepenbring paraîtra en sortie mondiale à la fin de l'année 2019. The Beautiful Ones, référence à la chanson culte de Prince figurant sur l'album "Purple Rain", traite de manière très personnelle la transformation de Prince Rogers Nelson en star mondiale, sa vie, son personnage, sa vision artistique. Ce livre n'est pas seulement un hommage à un musicien légendaire, c'est une véritable oeuvre de création, littéraire, originale, une " expérience " pour le lecteur, à l'image de son auteur. Prince est immortel, et The Beautiful Ones en est la preuve. L'ouvrage est composé de 4 parties : les textes que Prince a rédigés avant de mourir, sur son enfance, son adolescence et son introduction à la musique ; le récit de ses premières années dans la musique, avant la sortie de son premier disque, en forme de scrapbook - écrits et photos - que les éditeurs ont trouvé à Paisley Park après la mort de Prince ; une série de photos personnelles et inédites illustrant l'évolution de l'artiste, jusqu'à son statut de star ; des documents originaux de l'album "Purple Rain". Une introduction écrite par son collaborateur, Dan Piepenbring, raconte leur rencontre, l'histoire du livre, les derniers jours de Prince, sa générosité et son immense créativité.

A la croisée des constantes modifications, il est apparu difficile de mettre à jour sur une année un Code Général des Impôts fiable. Aussi, les experts fiscaux inscrits dans la Section Fiscale de l'ONES ont fait le pari d'éditer un Code qui puisse répondre aux exigences de fiabilité par l'intégration de toutes les lois de finances ayant eu un impact sur les dispositions du Code Général des Impôts. Questions about personal identity and about time affect us all. The concern for "our" future and the fear of "our" death are based on (mostly vague) concepts of personal identity over time. Though the atomic components of our present body are not identical with the ones shown on our childhood photos, we have no doubts in recognizing ourselves on those pictures. Clashing Cultures is an anthropological study of the Annang, an ethnic people of Southern Nigeria. The book provides a succinct historical and ethnographic description of the impacts of various cultural and religious influences upon the Annang people and the transformations that have taken place as a result. In 1896, Hilma af Klint and four other like-minded women artists left the Edelweiss Society and founded the "Friday Group", also known as "The Five". They met every Friday for spiritual meetings, including prayers, studies of the New Testament, meditation and séances. The medium exercised automatic writing and mediumistic drawing. Eventually they established contact with spiritual beings whom they called "The High Ones". In 1896, the five women began taking meticulous notes of the mediumistic messages conveyed by the spirits. In time, Hilma af Klint felt she had been selected for more important messages. After ten years of esoteric training with "The Five", aged 43, Hilma af Klint accepted a major assignment, the execution of The Paintings for the Temple. This commission, which engaged the artist from 1906 to 1915, changed the course of her life. In 1908, Rudolf Steiner, leader of the German Theosophical Society, held several lectures in Stockholm. He also visited af Klint's studio and saw some of the early Paintings for the Temple. In 1913, Steiner founded the Anthroposophical Society, which af Klint joined in 1920 and remained a member for the rest of her life.

This book surveys the major theological writings of Hans Urs von Balthasar from the perspective of the relationship between finite and infinite freedom. The first part examines Balthasar's early treatment of the question in the context of the analogy of being. The second part concentrates on his more mature work, the Theological Dramatics, with its understanding of the relationship between finite and infinite freedom in terms of a 'dramatic encounter' in which, controversially, human freedom is thought to actively participate in an ever-greater exchange of love in God. But this book is more than a survey. Observing the persistence of the 'analogy of proportionality' within the Dramatics leads the author in the third part to a critique of Balthasar's thought. It is argued that the continuation of the earlier perspective explains Balthasar's emphasis on the freedom of the individual to the neglect of social structures and their transformation. While the 'historical' as such is not neglected, as some claim it is, the focus is on the history of the individual and his or her relationship with God. It is therefore contended that Balthasar's theology of the Trinity is more concerned with 'interpersonal' relationships than truly 'social' ones and that this is what inhibits a fruitful dialogue with social theologies.

This tremendous book is an iconographic study of Renaissance and Baroque pastoral and related subject matter, with an important chapter on the 18th century, both in the visual arts, where pastoral is very poorly understood, and in words and performance, about which many false preconceptions prevail. The study begins with Virgil's use of Theocritus and an analysis of what basis Virgil provided for Renaissance pastoral and what, by contrast, stemmed from the medieval pastourelle. Pastoral developed notably in the Venetian High Renaissance. Its texts incorporated Petrarchist and Neoplatonic ideas of love, of which this book charts the development and evolution with unprecedented precision, considering also the female nude in art. There is a novel and polemical discussion of the development of landscape subjects in art, from Giorgione to Claude. The contributions of the most influential or representative authors - Petrarch, Sannazaro, Montemayor, Tasso, Guarino, Lope de Vega, Cervantes, Honoré d'Urfé, Cornelis de Hooft, Shakespeare and lastly Salomon Gessner - are considered beside many interesting more minor ones - Arsocchi, Bernardim Ribeiro, Clément Marot, Cieco d'Adria, John Fletcher, Fontenelle - and the verses of madrigals. There is a chapter on 'Being Rural' - what we can say about the reality of life in the country in the early modern period. There is a chapter on 'Et in Arcadia Ego' that introduces new evidence for the dating of Poussin's famous work by reference to a neglected work by Sébastien Bourdon in Yale ; another on a pastoral composition by Rubens that has not been considered as such. There is an important and bold discussion of self-projection ('metachronic' representation) by monarchs and courtiers across Europe in the 17th century, both within pastoral and without, which illuminates profound differences between Protestant and Catholic culture. Coming from the study of earlier periods, the author is able to throw new light on the Rococo - figures such as John Gay, Watteau, Gessner and Gainsborough - and to explain the termination of pastoral writing and art with the embrace of modernity in form and means of expression.
