Dans cette longue Lettre à Hank, Sandrine Ageorges-Skinner s'adresse à son mari Hank Skinner, condamné à mort en 1995 au Texas pour un triple meurtre qu'il a toujours nié avoir commis. Avec toute la force que lui insufflent son amour et son combat pour la vérité, Sandrine revisite pour lui, et avec lui, ce qui les rapproche, ce qui les divise et ce qui les rend inséparables. C'est le vécu d'un amour qui semble avoir toujours été là et ne jamais devoir finir, un amour qui s'est tissé d'une lettre à l'autre et qui n'a cessé de mûrir dans les dédales d'un combat incertain où la vie et la mort se côtoient à chaque instant. Peu de retours à la ligne, peu de respirations, il est coulé d'une traite, à l'image de ces centaines de lettres que Sandrine a écrites à Hank. Des lettres rédigées dans l'urgence, comme en apnée. Entre nos lignes est un livre fort, dérangeant, captivant. C'est un texte qu'on ne lâche pas. Et s'il nous arrive de sourire, c'est toujours les larmes aux yeux. Cette histoire est sidérante, cet amour est sidérant, ce pays, les États- Unis, à la fois terre de liberté et terre de barbarie, est sidérant.Les mots de Sandrine sonnent effroyablement juste et cognent fort. Depuis quinze ans, jamais elle n'a baissé les bras, jamais elle ne s'est autorisée le moindre doute, à peine, au détour d'une image de documentaire, une larme vite essuyée. Elle y croit, et elle a raison : au moment où elle met la dernière main à son texte, Hank Skinner vient d'obtenir que soient enfin réalisés les tests ADN qu'elle et lui réclamaient en vain depuis plus de dix ans.

Dominique Dudouble, ancien journaliste à l'agence Reuters, a été en poste quatre ans à Moscou et a séjourné à plusieurs reprises en Afghanistan durant l'occupation soviétique. Why We Are Not What We Think We Are
Questions about personal identity and about time affect us all. The concern for "our" future and the fear of "our" death are based on (mostly vague) concepts of personal identity over time. Though the atomic components of our present body are not identical with the ones shown on our childhood photos, we have no doubts in recognizing ourselves on those pictures. Similarly, we are convinced that "we" will be able to recognize "ourselves" on our present passport-photos even in the future. Is this confidence justified ? If it is not, our conception of life and death would be as faulty as was the image of the universe in the Middle Ages.

Dieppe 1942 Chenilles & galets. Le Calgary Tank Regiment
Un nouveau livre sur Dieppe diront certains, un livre différent diront d'autres. En effet, différent pour plusieurs raisons : il ne traite pas du raid en son ensemble, mais fait le focus sur un seul régiment ayant participé à cette opération militaire. le régiment blindé. Les photographies montrant les tanks canadiens ne manquent pas. et aucun livre, écrit en français. n'a Jusqu'alors été consacré à cette unité. Premier régiment blindé canadien à faire le coup de feu contre l'armée allemande sur le sol européen, premier engagement des chars Churchill... Beaucoup de premières fois en somme. Cette unité est l'objet de nombreuses légendes que nous allons tenter de mettre à bas ici : aucun char n'est entré en ville et la casse des chenilles ne peut être imputée aux galets dieppois. Si les chenilles ont cassé, c'est pour la plupart en raison de coups directs des canons allemands chargés de défendre Dieppe. Parmi les équipages des 28 chars et sept Scout Cars qui ont été débarqués à Dieppe, seuls trois hommes sont revenus en Angleterre. Les autres ont été soit tués, soit capturés. Ce récit s'intéresse également aux transports maritimes de blindés (TLC) et aux sapeurs chargés de détruire les obstacles qui se dressaient face aux blindés et de faciliter leur avance sur les galets.

Poet Nightingale Bharathiyar, life story of Bharathiyar
Poet Nightingale Bharathiyar Subramaniya Bharathiyar was born on 11th December 1882 in Ettayapuram, which is now part of Thoothukudi District. He died on 11th September 1921. Bharathiar was educated at a local high school where his talents as a poet were recognized even at the age of 11. He had a voracious appetite for learning ancient and contemporary Tamil literature and had a gifted intellect to derive astonishing truths from ancient poems. He was also one of the prominent leaders of the Indian independence movement. His national integration songs earned him the title "Desiya Kavi" (National Poet). His patriotic songs emphasize nationalism, unity of India, equality of men and the greatness of the Tamil language. Fondée en 1948, la RAND Corporation est une institution américaine dédiée à l'étude des questions stratégiques. Depuis sa création, elle participe au processus de décision politique par le biais de ses études et rapports. A ce titre, elle est considérée comme l'un des principaux think tanks américains. La fin de la guerre froide aurait dû sonner le glas des soviétologues. Au-delà d'un simple savoir, l'analyse de l'URSS est devenue au cours des cinquante dernières années un véritable commerce aux Etats-Unis. Au sein de ce marché des idées stratégiques, la RAND Corporation a fait figure de matrice organisationnelle. Créée pour et par la guerre froide, pouvait-elle lui survivre ? Aujourd'hui, vingt ans après la chute du Mur de Berlin, ce think tank californien n'a pourtant pas fermé ses bureaux. Au contraire, il en a ouvert d'autres dans le monde entier. La collection "Le droit des affaires" présente les travaux du CREDA, le Centre de recherche sur le droit des affaires de la Chambre de commerce et d'industrie de région Paris Ile-de-France. Organisme d'observation et de réflexion prospective, le CREDA a été conçu comme un lieu de rencontre entre les entreprises et des spécialistes d'horizons différents. Ses travaux, largement interdisciplinaires, soumettent informations, suggestions et thèmes nouveaux à l'attention de tous ceux que concerne l'évolution des règles du droit des affaires. Cette 30e étude est l'occasion pour nombre de ses amis de rendre hommage à celui qui, une quinzaine d'années durant a accompagné, de sa rigueur scientifique et de sa vision prospective les travaux de ce "think tank".
