La question du terroriste solitaire fait polémique. Longtemps appelé "loup solitaire", il n'a généralement rien d'un ermite. Qu'il se soit radicalisé par des contacts directs ou sur Internet, qu'il ait un passé de délinquant ou soit diplômé de l'enseignement supérieur, ce terroriste qui organise et commet seul son action, au nom d'une idéologie extrémiste, constitue un véritable défi pour les services de renseignement et pour la sécurité dans une démocratie. Morality and Politics in Nigeria
Before the Nigerian civil war, and even after the war till 1982, Nigeria was regarded as a wealthy nation in comparison with other African countries. However, for the past 30 years, struggle for power has resulted in political instability, moral degeneracy and under-development. The economy of the country has collapsed and millions of Nigerians are now enveloped in poverty, hunger, disease, ignorance, unemployment etc. The root cause of this unhealthy situation for the country is corruption and moral degradation. The only way out of the Nigerian ugly situation seems to be the integration of morality in Nigerian politics. This research work therefore aims at suggesting avenues of restoring man's original dignity within a corrupt and unjust social and political setting in Nigeria.

There is currently no generally accepted theory of metre in French poetry. The aim of this book is to propose one which will be practically useful to readers and analysts of French verse. This theory relates metre to the accentual structure of different registers of spoken and written Modern French. It also addresses problems in the history of French metre by examining language texts from the Old French epic to the lyrics of Verlaine, as well as musical texts from the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries.

Cross and Crown in Barbados
During the late 19th century, Caribbean society was generally controlled by the local plantocracy and the colonial administration of the Europeans. Barbados was so much the pride of the British colonies in the Caribbean that it was called "Little England". The life-blood of the society, the Black labouring classes, reaped very little of the social and economic benefits from the Sugar industry which the White planter-class owned and controlled. The Church was also controlled by the planter-class, and it functioned effectively to sustain a pattern of rigid social containment, and to work consistently for the maintenance of the status quo. Political religion in Barbados was therefore an engine of social control of the poor Blacks by the rich Whites. Cross and Crown together created "peace" and poverty.

Focusing in English and Korean
English and Korean have various ways of expressing grammatical prominence. While focusing in English has been studied over the past twenty years by a number of generative and functional grammarians, there is as yet no comprehensive treatment of focus phenomena in Korean. This monograph treats five focusing constructions of English and looks at their grammatical and lexical equivalents in Korean. English and Korean are different typologically. Since this difference is important, if one wishes to make sense of the diverging focusing strategies in these two languages, it is necessary to give a typological outline of English and Korean. The follwing two typological approaches figure prominently in this monograph : the basic word order typology developed by Greenberg, and the language typology proposed by Li and Thompson.

Scripture and Midrash in Judaism
The rabbis of late antiquity produced a score of exegesis of the Hebrew Scriptures of Ancient Israel ("the Old Testament"), in which they took various approaches to the study and interpretation of what they called "the written Torah". These exegesis, called collectively "Midrash", form an important part of "the oral Torah", that is, the tradition of Sinai formulated and transmitted for memorization and ultimately written down by the ancient sages in the first six centuries A.D. These three volumes present large selections of the Midrash-documents of ancient Judaism, in the translation of Jacob Neusner, who has now translated into English nearly all of the Rabbinic literature of late antiquity. The selections are organized by type, so that readers see the various ways in which, in form and in intellectual program, the documents of Midrash-compilation were formulated and set forth. In this way, the vast body of biblical exegesis put forth by Judaism in its formative age is made available to the contemporary reader.

This all-new critical edition of the original 1924 arrangement of George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue presents an authoritative transcription of arranger Ferde Grofé's handwritten holograph score preserved in the collection of the United States Library of Congress in Washington, DC. The edition represents as best as possible the piece as premiered by the Paul Whiteman Orchestra at his "Experiment in Modern Music" concert on February 12, 1924. Grofé prepared the score for the specific talents and timbres of the Whiteman Orchestra, largely from an ink fair copy of Gershwin's two-piano short-score manuscript. Gershwin continued to modify the piano solo portion of this short score during rehearsals and, most likely, even after the premiere of the piece. Instrumentation : 2 pianos

Agricultural Price Policy and Export and Food Production in Cameroon
This volume discusses the issue of agricultural price policy for the coffee-based farming systems in Cameroon. It presents a farming systems based analysis of the impact of different agricultural policies on food and export crop production in small mixed farming systems. The analysis shows what impact price policy and changing price relationships have on the production of coffee as well as food crops. The two major coffee-based production systems in Cameroon are modeled in a linear programming framework and the reaction of the farmers to varying price relations, institutional settings and technology changes are analyzed. It also highlights how price policy affects inter- and intrahousehold income distribution.

Le vieux blanc d'Abidjan dans sa prison de Yopougon
Prison de Yopougon, dans la banlieue d'Abidjan. Il a soixante et onze ans et, victime collatérale de règlements de comptes au sommet de l'Etat, est accusé d'avoir détourné plusieurs milliards de francs CFA. Rien que ça ! En juillet 1984, Michel Field, encore prof de philo et déjà journaliste, débarque à Abidjan avec une seule idée en tête : obtenir une audience de Félix Houphouët-Boigny, le vieux président ivoirien, pour plaider la cause de son père et, surtout, pour qu'une date de procès soit enfin fixée. Mais nous sommes en Afrique. Rien n'est simple. Première surprise : alors qu'il s'attendait à retrouver son père anéanti, l'auteur le découvre devenu le précieux adjoint du directeur. A la satisfaction générale, Papa Field organise, modernise et régente le plus grand pénitencier de Côte d'Ivoire, quand il ne règle pas les conflits au pied d'un flamboyant dans la cour de la prison. Ce qui ne l'empêche pas, chaque soir, de retrouver sa cellule, qu'il partage avec cinq autres détenus. Il n'empêche. Si rien n'avance, il est décidé à se faire la belle : il a soigneusement préparé son évasion, ce qui, à son âge, n'est pas très raisonnable. Les jours passent et aucun rendez-vous n'est fixé. Inquiet et découragé, Michel Field doit repartir pour Paris quand, au matin du dernier jour, le téléphone sonne. Le Président va le recevoir. Commence alors la plus folle des journées... Ce livre est le roman d'une aventure inimaginable. Il est un hommage d'un fils à son père. Mais il est surtout un hymne à cette Afrique sensuelle, généreuse et hypnotique dont la morsure a marqué Michel Field pour la vie.

Pris dans une spirale vertigineuse, c’est par pans entiers qu’il va vider cette bibliothèque constituée depuis l’enfance et devenue au fil du temps le miroir de sa vie. À travers cette singulière histoire d’amour, le héros se trouve confronté au mystère des sentiments qui nous lient à nos livres et à l’intimité de nos bibliothèques. Se déprendre des livres de sa vie, est-ce un renoncement ou une libération ? C’est l’énigme à laquelle cette mystérieuse jeune femme soumet, tel un sphinx, le narrateur du Soldeur, mais aussi ses lecteurs, dans ce roman initiatique, hommage à toutes les écritures et à toutes les lectures.

Ce texte porte un éclairage différent de celui de la presse occidentale sur ce qui s'est passé en Egypte de janvier 2011 à juin 2013. Analyses et reportages que je considère comme biaisés, tronqués et ne reflétant ni la réalité des faits eux-mêmes, ni la profondeur politique qu'ils signifient. On lit, on entend, on donne à voir que la culture démocratique des Egyptiens balbutie alors même que la jeunesse du pays orchestre un spectacle grandiose et démocratie. Le peuple avait porté un Président au pouvoir. Le Président s'est montré incompétent et dangereux. Ce même peuple exprime sa volonté de destituer le Président et délègue aux militaires le pouvoir de négocier sa destitution. Tel est le résumé de mon histoire. Trente-trois millions d'actes de rébellion ont été signés pour réclamer le départ du Président, trente trois millions de rebelles ont envahi les rues, les ponts du Caire et des autres villes du pays. Même si le mot rébellion, Tamarrod, est rarement prononcé. L'histoire que je raconte ici n'échappera pas à la terreur et à la contre-révolution. Cependant, de l'avoir vécue, il en restera une culture populaire de la Résistance qui ne s'effacera pas de la mémoire collective. Tamarrod a prêté son nom à un parti qui contribuera à la rédaction d'une nouvelle Constitution.

Child and Nation. A Study of Political Socialisation and Banal Nationalism in France and England
Where do feelings of national belonging come from ? Why is it that this belonging often seems both fundamental and banal, both intangible and omnipresent ? This book argues that the answers to these questions lie in childhood and the socialisation to the nation that we experience as children. It suggests that the banality of our own everyday nationalism is due to the fact that we have spent our lives learning to take it for granted. Just as our first understandings of reality are learned during childhood socialisation, so nationhood and national belonging are internalised as natural and necessary from the very beginning of our lives. The specific nature of this early socialisation is what confers upon banal nationalism its characteristic combination of omnipresence, inscrutability and self-evidence. To try and get around this self-evidence and explore this socialisation and its results, this study has adopted an innovative methodology involving semi-directive projective interviews with young children in France and England. This book presents an analysis of how this early socialisation to the nation plays out on young children's visions of national belonging and its justifications and implications. It also looks at what this transmission in childhood means for nationalism as an ideology and the power and pertinence of the nation today.

Erich Schmid (1907 - 2000) was an orchestra conductor, choir director and university lecturer who promoted world premieres and radio broadcasts of contemporary music in Switzerland. He himself studied with Bernhard Sekles, among others, then with Arnold Schönberg and followed the aesthetics of the New Viennese School in his compositions. The historical-critical Erich Schmid Edition publishes for the first time all sixteen opus-numbered works as well as three additional piano works. Suite No. 1 is an interesting hybrid that conveys the most modern compositional structure in the genre of light music. Schmid composed it shortly after the end of his year as a master student of Schönberg in Berlin. Like his other works of the time, its unusual instrumentation already shows an effort to move on from classical "high forms" and compose in looser structures, with the free use of the twelve-tone technique providing inner coherence. "Dance", "Waltz", "March" are linked by two inserted "Intermezzi" and introduced by an "Introduction". Not all movements require full instrumentation and are designed for solo rather than group performance. Professional playing techniques such as flutter tonguing and alienating sound effects through damping and muting are used. Instrumentation : wind band and percussion op. 7
