Pour Corentin, ce nouveau jeu virtuel où il crée la famille rêvée, c'est le bonheur. Mais le jour où Corentin veut faire faire à l'un de ses personnages autre chose que ce que le programme informatique autorise, tout se dérègle et les personnages disparaissent les uns après les autres. En voulant rétablir la situation, il se trouve piégé au coeur de la simulation. Lui qui croyait trouver le paradis découvre que derrière cette façade lisse et sans nuages, c'est presque l'enfer... Cream-city se transforme en Crime City.

Soft City
"Soft City", du dessinateur norvégien Hariton Pushwagner est un joyau du graphic novel, une dystopie unique en noir et blanc qui retrace la journée ubuesque d'un cadre moyen dans une mégalopole anonyme, au beau milieu des années 1970. Le trait unique de Pushwagner, alors tout juste adulte, bien avant qu'il ne devienne un artiste contemporain reconnu, plonge dans la vie morne et aliénante de la société de consommation. Ce livre culte n'avait jamais été publié jusqu'alors : recommandé par WS Burroughs, un éditeur anglais avait voulu le publier en 1979 mais l'artiste avait perdu toutes ses planches dans le bateau l'amenant d'Oslo à Londres. Données pour perdues, elles refont surface trois décennies plus tard, et c'est la New York Review of Books qui se charge de la publier, fin 2016. Rappelant David Lynch et son Eraserhead, Une journée d'Ivan Denissovitch de Soljenitsyne ou encore les grands romans de Ballard, ce roman graphique unique est un chef-d'oeuvre sans nul autre pareil - Chris Ware, 2016

In his own time, the court wit Sir Charles Sedley (1639-1701) was praised for his poetic skill rather than for his dramatic talent. Yet, as this old-spelling critical edition of his two comedies shows, Sedley was also a satirist whose plays are worth reading along with the ones of his more celebrated fellow-artists Etherege, Wycherley, and Shadwell. After a biographical introduction, a detailed analysis of the plays and characters concentrates on Sedley's satiric strategies which lambaste the marriage of convenience as well as the conduct of a hypocritical and materialistic society.

Infidels, Turks, and Women: The South Slavs in the German Mind, ca. 1400-1600
This study examines the way in which late medieval and early modern Germans envisioned the Balkan Slavic peoples. It deals with mental categories, such as images, perceptions, and attitudes, which the German-speaking subjects of the Holy Empire gradually developed during their increasingly frequent contacts with the Balkans in the period between 1400 and 1600. During that time span the Germans were constructing their own type of negative self-identification that served as a grid through which information about other peoples was processed. The closer definition of that grid and the types of images and attitudes produced by the encounter and bequeathed to modern Germans and, indeed, to the rest of Western Europe is one of the main goals of the book.

Hymns: The Making and Shaping of a Theology for the Whole People of God
The theological potential of hymns has never been fully exploited. This study shows how hymns communicate theology and enable those without a formal theological education to enter into theological debate. A nineteenth century collection of English hymns and some contemporary Bemba hymns from the Zambian Copperbelt are examined and compared, within their theological, cultural and social contexts, to discover their response to death, judgement, heaven and hell. From this comparison and a study of how hymns are used in these churches, a model emerges whereby hymns can be used to make and shape theology. This model is observed in a Zambian parish and is also shown in practice in an English parish. Finally, there is a reflection on the implications of this model for Missiology and Ecclesiology showing, among other things, the need for a radical reassessment of the relationship between professional theologians and the rest of the Church.

Oaths, Vows and Promises in the first Part of the French Prose Lancelot Romance
This book examines the narrative use made of oaths, vows and promises in a thirteenth-century work of fictional literature, reviewing the textual prominence accorded them by the writer in the light of legal texts of the Middle Ages that deal with the same subject. Medieval society had to deal with highly complex problems that arose out of the central importance accorded the given word. Jurists wrestled with the problems in an attempt to solve them ; the writer of a work of narrative fiction can explore such problems in terms of human drama. The writer of the prose Lancelot was clearly aware of the legal debate, and he used both the characters and plot of his fictional text to construct narrative sequences that allowed him to depict the moral and psychological perplexities that faced both society and individuals over these matters.

The review of the OHADA accounting system symbol of the evolution towards IFRS standards was the focus of this study. It is about understanding how business leaders perceive the evolution from OHADA standards to IFRS standards. To conduct this study, we opted for a qualitative approach. As a result, we did semi-direct interviews with twenty-five business leaders in Cameroun (18 Cameroonian business leaders and 7 multinational business leaders). The data collected was exploited through content analysis via NVivo10 software. However, the results show that the accounting innovations of SYSCOHADA allow the production and communication of more relevant accounting and financial information for users. Likewise, managers of multinational companies believe that OHADA must fully converge towards IFRS. This perception is contrast to that of Cameroonian business leaders who cite the contextual contrast as the main obstacle and therefore taking into account the specificities of this contrast will be an asset for full convergence towards IFRS.

Hybrid or fully online ? Synchronous or asynchronous ? Unimodal, bimodal, comodal or multimodal ? The all-out development of distance learning has led to the creation of appropriate digital systems, either by using what was already in place (such as video conferencing classrooms and web conferencing software supporting virtual classrooms) or introducing innovative environments (such as immersive telepresence classrooms). To use these versatile, multi-functional technologies, teachers need to take a step back to enable them to adapt their teaching methods and offer learners a suitable environment that overcomes physical and geographical distances. As for students, the need to "be there" and "be together" while learning remotely has to be taken into account to maintain their commitment and ensure they continue to contribute, despite the fact they are apart. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us the importance of the professional, collegial and friendship connections we have with those we usually meet face-to-face in a traditional classroom. Telepresence systems enable all these people to come together remotely (and synchronously) and make it possible to use active teaching methods, driven by the self-regulation of the learners. But what is telepresence ? Do teachers need any special training ? How do you attend lessons remotely ? How do participants learn in a telepresence setting ? What type of student assessment can be used in such an environment ? The result of international collaboration, this short guide looks at these questions from both a research and a practical perspective, inviting you to explore telepresence teaching and learning.

900 Years of St Bartholomew's. The History, Art and Architecture of London's Oldest Parish Church
This important book presents a comprehensive history of St Bartholomew the Great, the oldest parish church in London. In 2023, the Priory Church and Hospital will celebrate the 900th anniversary of their foundation. At the heart of the Smithfield area, with its hospital, pubs, restaurants and market, is a church built when Henry I, son of William the Conqueror, was King of England. It came out unscathed from the Great Fire of 1666 and the bombs dropped in Zeppelin raids in World War I and during the Blitz in World War II. Its splendid Romanesque core has been added to by each successive generation. This volume - the first comprehensive history of the Church since 1921 - will survey the art, architecture and historical significance of the City of London's oldest parish church in a scholarly, yet accessible tone. The Public Concept of Land Ownership
In South Korea the increase of population and the economic growth together with a shortage of arable land has led to land speculation. The government has tried to encounter this speculation with legislative acts introducing ceilings on land ownership, imposing taxes on excessive land holding and controlling real-estate transactions. These public policy measures are understood in Korea as the "Public Concept of Land Ownership". The Korean reports collected in this book explain in detail this concept and measure it by its economic efficiency as well as by its constitutionality. A part of the German reports describes how the same legal questions are dealt with under German law. Other reports examine the history of land ownership and the reprivatisation of land in East Germany after 1990.
