Seeing loud. Basquiat and music
During the late 1970s and early 1980s, New York City was financially and socially bankrupt, but the art and music scene was flourishing. During these years, the downtown New York music scene - no wave, hip-hop, disco funk and club culture - shaped Jean-Michel Basquiat as both a musician and an artist. This catalog for a traveling exhibition explores how Basquiat's painting has parallels in his music (sampling, cut-up, rapping), and takes a new look at his production as a writer and a poet in light of his connections with the then-emerging hip-hop culture. This beautifully illustrated exhibition catalog of rarely seen photographs and images sheds new light on Basquiat as a musician, exploring how his art and music are related, and how they reflect on his identity as a Black artist in the United States, the downtown New York music scene, and contemporary culture.

Corporatism and the Stability of Capitalist Democracies
This dissertation treats a problem which originally stems from Marxist political economic thinking : why do representatives of the working-class compromise with representatives of the capitalist class on major socio-economic topics on a national level, and what do such compromises look like ? The author establishes the claim that macro-economic compromises between organized classes are both likely to result and unstable in their nature. It is shown how the state may act as an actor supporting the establishment of an institutionalized class compromise and how it may try to prevent the breakdown of it. After elaborating these claims in a dynamic macro-economic model, the author describes developments of class compromises in post World War II Sweden, Austria and the Netherlands to illustrate the theory.

Marvel Visionaries : Steve Ditko - COMPTE FERME
L'un des plus grands visionnaires de l'écurie Marvel est très certainement Steve Ditko, cocréateur des personnages de Spider-Man et du Docteur Strange ! Mais son imagination débridée est aussi allée s'aventurer du côté de la science-fiction, et jusqu'au bout de sa carrière, il s'est intéressé aux héros les plus atypiques de l'univers Marvel, comme Speedball et Ecureuillette ! En novembre, Panini Comics rend hommage à deux des plus importants créateurs de la Maison des Idées. Steve Ditko, l'un des partenaires privilégiés de Stan Lee (concepteur entre autres du célébrissime costume de Spider-Man) a opéré dès le début des années 60 et sa carrière a duré une trentaine d'années. Cet album souvenir qui lui est consacré contient des épisodes rares.

During Antiquity, every culture had its own strange creatures, that mixed the forms of one or more animal, plant and human species in an infinite number of more-or-less fanciful combinations. Griffins, sphinxes, mermaids, centaurs, satyrs, pygmies, werewolves, winged monsters and unspeakable hybrids, fantastic beasts abound in the imagination of many populations throughout Antiquity. Most of them continue to live, sometimes transformed, through fairy tales, literature, movies and videogames. Faced with the abundance and variety of the ancient fantastic bestiary, the questions that come to mind are : Where do fantastic beasts come from ? How do they appear in different cultures ? What is their history, how did they survive until now ? And above all, what are fantastic beasts ? This book will explore these questions through the lens of archaeology, art history, philology and philosophy. The result is a hybrid book, precisely like the fantastic animals that constitute its object, a book which offers different approaches of analysis while being aware that our means are often vain to capture these elusive figures, which ultimately are more like us than they seem. Health Problems in Asia and in the Federal Republic of Germany- How to solve them?
In order to cope with health problems in developing or developed countries, means have to be tested before preventive, promotive and curative measures can be implemented on a nationwide basis by health authorities. Problems and constraints of such intervention trials seem to be similar in developing and developed countries although there are differences in the disease patterns. In the near future, especially the Asian countries will be facing similar health problems as the western countries, in addition to their present problems. Scientists from various Asian countries and the Federal Republic of Germany discussed intervention measures in the field of health delivery system, family planning, parasite control, mother and child health care as well as nutrition.

The bonds between generations or among siblings, whether benevolent or destructive, play a decisive part in the young protagonists' development. Children's literature is shown to reflect the diversity of the family as an institution and its ability to change or even to reinvent itself (single-parent, same-sex-parent, blended or adoptive families...). Its fictional representations of the family may differ from the realities experienced by the readers, and invites them to reconsider their own experiences, yet show expectations and questions related to family life to remain fairly constant.

Anyone, human or alien, attempting to bypass the Lambda Protocols was subject to prosecution under this new law. To enforce this law, the G-Men were created. Culled from specialists with military and law enforcement experience, the G-Men sought out Lambda Protocol violators with swift and violent response. With wiki crimes on the rise and a growing anti-alien movement gaining strength, something had to be done. The government needed a solution, but they weren't sure what to do. And then they discovered a teenage girl living in Brazil with a special affinity for traversing and moulding the data stream. They had discovered the first Googol. And the world was about to change.

Et il y a une chose que tout le monde ignore : quand il lut dans les années 1890, son premier livre de Rimbaud, Jack London fit le voyage de Belgique pour le rencontrer. Rimbaud était déjà mort.
