Dix ans de reconstruction du Tôhoku après la triple catastrophe du 11 mars 2011. Approche géopolitique et sociologique d'un désastre inédit
Le 11 mars 2011, à 14 h 46, le plus puissant séisme de l'histoire du Japon se déclenche au large de la région du Tôhoku. Il cause un tsunami dévastateur, tuant plus de 22 ? 000 personnes et détruisant un nombre incalculable d'infrastructures. Quelques jours plus tard, une série d'explosions à la centrale de Fukushima Daiichi plonge le Japon dans sa plus grande catastrophe nucléaire depuis 1945. Cette triple catastrophe, souvent réduite à la seule mention de "? Fukushima ? " par les médias occidentaux, a laissé de profondes traces au sein de la société japonaise. Qu'il s'agisse de la côte du Sanriku, la plus gravement touchée par le tsunami, ou des zones contaminées par la radioactivité en préfecture de Fukushima, les politiques de gestion de la catastrophe fondées sur le paradigme de la "? résilience ? " et sur "? l'ignorance organisée ? " ont eu de graves conséquences sociales. En 2011, tout est à reconstruire : les infrastructures, mais aussi les individus et les communautés.

Alfred de Musset et George Sand, dessins par Alfred de Musset est un opuscule publié en 1896 par un spécialiste de l'oeuvre d'Alfred de Musset et notaire à Paris (1857) : Maurice Clouard. C'est ainsi avec la précision du notaire qu'il relate avec détails et le souci de la vérité historique l'aventure entre les deux romanciers, et sa fin tragique après le retour d'Italie de Musset. Alfred de Musset et George Sand vécurent ensemble une folle aventure, romantique, passionnée. En 1833 ils se lient amoureusement et partent en Italie. Leur relation mouvementée, se termine en mai 1835. George Sand est née à Paris en 1804 et décédée en 1876. Epistolière, mémorialiste, auteur dramatique, l'amour demeure son thème de prédilection tout au long de son oeuvre littéraire, qui comprend notamment La Mare au diable, La Petite Fadette, François le Champi ou encore Les Maîtres sonneurs. Alfred de Musset est un poète et un dramaturge français. Pendant sa relation avec Georges Sand, il écrit son chef-d'oeuvre, un drame romantique, "Lorenzaccio" en 1834 (la pièce ne sera représentée qu'en 1896) , ainsi que sa pièce la plus connue : "On ne badine pas avec l'amour".

J'ai passé sept ans avec les migrants et les passeurs dans le Nord de la France Il y a huit ans, j'ai découvert une ville de tôles baptisée " la Jungle de Calais ". Les migrants étaient pour moi un sujet de reportage comme un autre. Mais j'ai été happé par leur obstination, leur errance et leur créativité pour surmonter chaque obstacle sur la route de l'exil vers l'Angleterre. Ce livre raconte sept années parmi eux. J'ai connu l'époque des clandestins passant par l'Eurotunnel, cachés dans les trains ou dans les camions. J'ai vécu le grand incendie de la Jungle, côtoyé les bénévoles, observé les trafics, les manipulations, les trahisons, et entendu tant de mensonges. J'ai vu naître et grandir le juteux business des traversées par la mer. Les tentatives désespérées en kayak ou en pédalo, l'apparition des mafias, des armes et de passeurs redoutablement organisés. Les migrants m'appelaient Joulian, Jiloun ou John. J'étais ce Faransia qui entrait dans leur intimité et dont ils ne savaient rien. Afin de leur rendre ce qu'ils m'offraient, j'ai eu besoin d'embarquer avec eux sur un canot pneumatique pour traverser la Manche. Cette histoire, c'est leur vie, la mienne, un univers fou, à deux heures d'autoroute de Paris.

Normandy, France, January 15, 1943. The weather is clear, the sun is shining. Two Royal Canadian Air Force aircraft fly over the Bayeux-Caen railroad. The target is a German freight train - and its locomotive. Aboard the first Spitfire, Sergeant Ferguson is aligning his gun sights on the target. It is 02 : 30 p. m. This will be his very last flight... HARASSING THE OCCUPYING FORCES TO PREPARE THE INVASION The RAF and RCAF had been flying hundreds of similar sorties over France for months, in order to weaken the German forces, particularly the Luftwaffe. The pilots of No. 401 Squadron were among those who took part in this patient work, made up of constant patrols and attacks. Among the 63 men mentioned in this book, 25 were killed in action between 1942 and 1944. A CRASH THAT AWOKE THE SPIRIT OF RESISTANCE Touched by William Ferguson's sacrifice, some French citizens decided to bury the young Canadian flier with dignity, honour and respect. The Germans took this as a provocation. A few weeks later, the Sipo-SD (the "Gestapo") arrested a dozen of them. The dissertation investigates the work of the Project in Partnership between Black and White which is based in Birmingham, England. The focus of this experiment in theological education is dialogical and intercultural within the British socio-cultural setting. This programme is compared with the Alternative Theological and Staff Development Experiment of Colgate Divinity School in Rochester, New York ; and the Black Church Experience, the Research in Black Church Studies and Research Study in Oral History at Garrett-Evangelical Seminary, Evanston, Illinois in USA. This study further probes into the trends in general education in South Africa and their influence on the socio-political dynamics and how these in turn influence education for mission. The research analyses these approaches in the light of the work done by the Programme on Theological Education of the World Council of Chruches. The enquiry points to the need to re-think our approach to theological education in all our pluralistic societies.

God's People: Instruments of Healing
The future impact of the churches on the societies in which they are situated depends on how they are experienced as healing and solidarizing communities (concerning their religious and social praxis) within themselves and to the outside. Exactly this is the question of the diaconical dimension of the church : the question of how much love (in terms of mercy and justice) and freedom (to the individual and to society) are being spread by the churches in this world. Theologically this book refers not only to the biblical foundations but also to the latest theology of the II Vatican Council (and of the appropriate understanding of the term "Evangelization") within the Catholic Church, without suggesting that this theological position is something exclusive in the ecumenical sphere. It rather may support similar theologies emerging from other churches, as a kind of offer to solidarize with each other looking for the possibilities of substantiating the Christian faith.

Environmentally Sound Waste Management?
This book assembles the revised papers presented to an international working conference on international waste policy convened by the Environmental Law Network International (ELNI) in May 1991 in Germany. The focus is placed on EC, national and regional waste management law, and implementation and practice in 15 countries of Europe. This is supplemented by analyses of relevant organisations and rich statistical material ; thus offers a unique comparative overview. The pan-European perspective shows a serious risk of "eco-dumping", i.e. the export of waste to countries with lower disposal standard. On the EC level, the conference was presented with substantial evidence of non-implementation of existing legislation in Member States. Therefore "global domestic policy" must become the guiding principle of national and international regulation and one of the main tasks of environmental organizations. In this spirit, it was agreed that in future a Europe-wide continued exchange of information and experience shall take place between the NGOs in the field of waste.

Jacques Cordier (1937-1975) is a painter whose renown extended beyond the national borders in his lifetime. He exhibited at Paris salons during the early years of his career, and later in galleries in Paris, Saint-Tropez and Italy. Loyal collectors also helped to extend his reputation before his tragic and premature death put an abrupt end to his creativity. A figurative painter trained in Paris in accordance with the precepts of the Return to Order, his work underwent a major artistic revolution when he moved to Saint-Tropez with Simone Armando-Barbier. 1817, Picardie. Le jeune Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain n'a qu'une idée en tête : quitter la maison familiale pour rejoindre Paris. Là, il compte bien découvrir les arcanes de la parfumerie qui l'attirent tant. Celui qui deviendra des années plus tard le "prince des parfums" et le fournisseur officiel des cours royales d'Europe, est encore loin d'imaginer qui va conquérir le monde et ouvrir la voie à une véritable dynastie de parfumeurs.

Traduit pour la première fois, avec une bibliographie extensive sur les études féministes, As Long... est un texte marqueur de l'historienne du design Penny Sparke. Etudiante de Reyner Banham et Charles Jenks, elle prend le contre-pied des Fathers of Pop en s'intéressant à la culture des femmes. De l'intérieur victorien à la post-modernité, comment les femmes se sont-elles jouées des stéréotypes de genre dans un domaine essentiellement masculin ? Un livre important. Penny Sparke est directrice du Moderne Interiors Research Centre à l'université de Kingston. En faisant passer au premier plan la culture et la consommation des femmes, le modèle historique que j'adopte offre l'inverse d'une approche à la Pevsner. Le livre plaide en faveur d'une évaluation non hiérarchique des artefacts issus du design, et permet de lire à nouveaux frais les objets et/ou les espaces du design. Penny Sparke.

The Whitman-Hartmann Controversy
The facts in the relationship of Sadakichi Hartmann and Walt Whitman have never been clarified, particularly Hartmann's controversial interview with the poet and its publication in the "New York Herald", April 14, 1889. Of more importance was Hartmann's attempt to found a Whitman Society and the opposition of jealous Whitman associates who frustrated his efforts, although a Whitman Society was founded as the result of his initial work. Further, Hartmann's life-long interest in the poet and his various publications are not generally known. The introduction and edition of his writings will elucidate this literary association.

Autobiography: Self Into Form
"The autobiographical impulse" dominated German-language literature of the 1970's, finding its expression in autobiographies of crisis, women's coming-to-consciousness, and disrupted childhoods. This study examines the historical, sociological, political and literary-historical context for this phenomenon, and in so doing engages the critical international discussion of autobiography as a changing genre. Detailed analyses of works by Ingeborg Bachmann, Elisabeth Plessen, Christa Wolf and Peter Handke suggest new critical approaches to autobiographical form. Manufactories in Germany
In eighteenth century Germany goods were produced in manufactories as well as by independent craftsmen and artisans employed by capitalists. The manufactories using tools and manually operated machines foreshadowed in many respects the factories of the nineteenth century. State and local support for the manufactories was aimed at reducing unemployment, maintaining military strength and securing foreign currency. Although not all manufactories were successful they provided a valuable heritage of industrial and commercial skills which were profitable to later entrepreneurs. However, those who - like Karl Marx - considered the manufactories to be a stage in the process of industrialisation have been proved wrong.

1992 - the quincentenary of the "discovery" of America by Columbus - for the participants of the Greifswald conference this did not mean to celebrate but to reflect on the effects and consequences of this clash of cultures. The conference dealt with questions and problems of intercultural relations, racism and multiculturalism in North America and Great Britain. Various papers analyze the achievements of minorities and their contributions to an increasing understanding of minority-majority relationships. Examples range from the general (Native American literature in the USA, women writers) to the specific (Canadian Métis, problems of Pakistani children in Lancashire).

Revolution's Urban Landscape
What are the implications of "change" as assessed from a Revolution's discourse point of view ? Did Revolution in its Eastern European mode "happen" only to make its once heroic agents "vulgar banana eaters" (Slavoj Zizek)? To what extent is/was Revolution part of the globalization process (Americanization)? The answer of this book is that it constituted a series of occurrences of both contingency and continuation. It is Romanian Revolution as a metonymic and creative space, incorporating the Event (here the city of Bucharest, December 1989-1990), the Memory (refiguration of identities), the Contact zone (the street as a public place), and the Local-Global (the East-West dialectics) that Revolution's Urban Landscape discusses in much detail. Through combining and analysing materials from both the local cultural field and the international press (witness reports, journalistic documentation, travelogues, fiction, academic publishing, graffiti, etc.), Raoul Granqvist demonstrates a number of aspects of Revolution's self-reflexivity, vitality and amorphousness. The Romanian book industry, through its absorption and introduction of new areas of popular reading (such as the American romance), embodies, this book explains, the basic instincts of Revolution towards openness and interaction.
